From the people who brought you "Strangers With Candy"
cinefan19 August 1999
This Comedy Central show was unfortunately short-lived (two seasons), despite winning a Cable Ace Award. It was a pretty straightforward sketch show brought to you by a bunch of Second City vets - Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, Mitch Rouse, and Amy Sedaris (and Jodi Lennon from Chicago's Annoyance Theatre) - who went on to create and star in Comedy Central's "Strangers With Candy." It was also brilliant. Now that "Strangers" is a success and Stephen Colbert is high-profile on "The Daily Show," let's hope this show is brought back for reruns... even though it probably will never be seen again. Too bad, because it was sure a thousand times better than MTV's "The State," Comedy Central's "The Vacant Lot," or Fox's "Mad TV." Smart, side-splitting comedy!

I really wish they would release this on DVD.

I was a major fan of this show when it aired in 1995. The sketches were so freaking hilarious! I loved the theme song "If I Knew You Were Coming, I'd Have Baked A Cake!" This is really where I started loving Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello. The summer of 1995 on Comedy Central was pivotal. The Vacant Lot and Exit 57 made it so. Sadly, I didn't tape any of them. I thought Comedy Central was really off base when they decided to let this show slide into oblivion. It's just sad that Comedy Central didn't back these endeavors further. If only I knew then what I know now; that it would be an uphill battle to find anyone who even remembers Exit 57, I would have taped every episode. But the sketch comedy was so well written, very much on par with The Kids in the Hall, that I thought it would be a shoo-in for repeats. Alas, I was wrong. I'm upset that they've let these two shows wither away in memory lane when there is clearly a fan base who would buy a DVD set of these two shows!

If you like, not to compare, Kids in the Hall, Monty Python, Vacant Lot, The State, etc. You have to see this, I wish they(Comedy Central) would replay this one. So many different sketches and hilarious performances...
