Hall of Famer Again Proves Himself
Miqque10 August 1999
Just a taped concert...in front of a record company crowd. One that proves why John Fogerty is in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. John carefully constructs songs, and plays them live as he wrote them. Steely Dan, Peter Gabriel and a few others have this type of perfectionism while constructing their music, yet are able to make it vital, exciting, and fresh when performed.

Warner Brothers has two excellent Fogerty concerts performed in-house. "John Fogerty's All-Stars" (which should also be on DVD, but with John's history there are no doubt legal snarls with the various artists) and now "Premonition". "All-Stars" featured a band with names like Duck Dunn, Booker T., and clunky interview segments with some snotty kid (George Thorogood). In that vein "Premonition" features the Fairfield Four brought on for backing vocals on "110 In the Shade", and other singers for other tunes. "Almost Saturday Night" and "Rockin' All Over the World" finally show up on U.S. release from the available-imported "John Fogerty" album. Nothing shows up from "Eye of the Zombie", nor, again, is a saxophone player to be found (a lack that weakened the "Zombie" tour). The backing band is seamless, and Kenny Aronson on drums is stellar.

Pleasant stage dressing (a swamp, of all things); enough camera movement to maintain interest with only a few inappropriate shots; all help the music remain the central focus - which is as it should be. This is not a world-changer. It's a full-ahead rock concert by a master.

Fogerty looks back and looks forward.
Hermit C-222 October 1999
It's great to see John Fogerty after so many years reconcile himself with his past. Finally he realizes what a crime it would be to forever let his work with Creedence Clearwater Revival lay fallow. In the excellent concert film he rocks through virtually all his major hits with CCR as well as doing versions of "Rockin' All Over the World" and "Almost Saturday Night," two "cult classics" from his long out-of-print post-CCR solo recording, 'John Fogerty.' He also proves that the creative well has not dried up by including several fine versions of his newer songs. One highlight is 'Joy of My Life,' written for his second wife. It's a unabashed love song, the kind he never, ever used to write. Throw in the best from his album 'Centerfield' and you've got a super evening. It's one that Fogerty fans won't want to miss, even if you haven't given him much thought lately.

The long await return of John Fogerty is here and it couldn't have been better. To put it simply this concert rocks but o no it doesn't leave out the roll that all bands now and days do. He plays all the old credence hits from proud mary to fortunate son. He also plays some realtively new materail from blue moon swamp. When he played joy of my life and dedacadet it to his wife im proud to say i almost broke out in tears hearing that song. Another great performance was centerfield, he came out with that baseball bat guitar..... that rocked. Then when u hear those opening cords man the crowd went crazy. Also knowing this is a concert the sound rocked it the best when its on dvd. you can really hear the feedback when he plays susie q. I don't no what else i can say i mean if you like music from the 60's or are a rock and roll fan this for you.........i gave it.................10 out of 10

Welcome back John

Man it's nice. John Fogerty back at last playing live, and even playing those old Creedence songs!

After all the trouble he has gone through, John makes these wonderful records and concerts again.

John was Creedence. Tom, Stu & Doug were o.k. and a part of the band, but this here Premonition video, shows he can do without - what a band he's got this time.

It's so nice to see you again John, keep up the good work.
