We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including Twin Peaks, Preacher, Casual and Arrow!
But first, some Qs coming out of San Diego Comic-Con:
1 | Does anyone not think that that Morgan saying “I don’t die” in The Walking Dead’s trailer dooms him?
2 | Kansas performing “Carry on Wayward Son” in Hall H: Peak Supernatural moment? Like, how do they even come close to topping that next year?
3 | Who would you award Miss/Mister Congeniality, of the many who passed through TVLine’s video suite?...

Drama surrounding the Winchester boys’ mom will be at the center of the upcoming Season 13 for “Supernatural.” The stars and producers of the long-running CW drama gathered for a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday, which kicked off with the rock band Kansas performing a live version of “Carry on Wayward Son,” the show’s unofficial theme song. Co-showrunner Bob Singer teased the outcome of the Season 12 finale, which left Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) trapped in a rift with Lucifer. Singer told the crowd that Mary is definitely not dead… but conflict arises between her sons, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean.

Fans of “Supernatural” got more than they bargained for during the show’s Comic-Con panel on Sunday, which kicked off with a surprise performance from rockers Kansas, whose 1976 hit “Carry on My Wayward Son” has been a staple of the show for years. The CW sci-fi series Supernatural kicked off the final day of Comic-Con with a spectacular presentation. Starting with a clip of show stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles — as themselves — headed down to Comic-Con’s Hall H. They cracked jokes and drove off, but as the screen went black, legendary rock band Kansas of the ’70 and ’80s started blaring the de facto theme song of the series “Carry On My Wayward Son” on the Hall H stage. The crowd erupted with applause as…...

Starting its Season 12 Knockout Rounds Monday, The Voice threw a curveball at its contestants, allowing the pairs who’d be competing with one another to keep their spots to watch each other rehearse. Mind you, I’m not sure how big a curveball that really was since they’d all certainly gotten to see what their opponent-of-the-week was up to/capable of during the Battle Rounds. And could it possibly have been any more awkward than sitting on stage and idly observing as your rival sang their ass off in hopes of sending you packing? Anyway, the twist did manage to rattle a coupla vocalists.

As we’ve learned over the last few years, licensing is a constant issue in the digital age of gaming. Music masters Harmonix certainly know this, as countless tracks have been pulled from the Rock Band Marketplace due to expired rights. This has been particularly unfortunate for those who came into the franchise with Rock Band Rivals, but the Boston-based studio has now come up with a solution.
With 2017 marking the 10 year anniversary of the franchise, Harmonix will be bringing back classic tracks throughout the year. Beginning this month, wanna-be rock stars will be able to grab three songs that previously appeared in past Rock Band titles. Coming from three different, but equally excellent, games, the returning tunes are:
Blue Oyster Cult: (Don’t Fear) The Reaper (Rock Band) Kansas: Carry on Wayward Son (Rock Band 2) All-American Rejects: Swing, Swing (Lego Rock Band)

Amara has shaken off the attack from the angels, demons and witches, ripped Lucifer from Cas’ body and mortally wounded Chuck. And yet God dying isn’t the only problem that the Winchesters must face. Amara, by slowly killing God, is killing the Sun and bringing literal darkness to the planet as the dark/light balance she and her brother represent is thrown out of whack. By now, it shouldn’t be news to anyone that former Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher spoke ill of dance music in an interview leading up to his performance at Scottish music festival T in The Park. After claiming that he had no idea who Avicii was and poking that he sounded “like an artist from the Renaissance period,” Gallagher went on to criticize deadmau5 in another interview. Now, both artists have responded to Gallagher’s remarks, each in a fashion befitting their very different public personas.
Avicii took to Instagram to post a short clip from the Southpark episode “Guitar Queer-o,” depicting the controversial program’s beloved character Randy Marsh playing the Kansas song “Carry On My Wayward Son” to a group of unimpressed children who would rather see their peers play the song on the video game Guitar Hero. Dean’s been using a hook-up phone app to get laid (obviously), but finds himself on the prospective end of demon deal rather than on anything else. Ahem. Supernatural's 200th episode is a fond tribute to its fans and bears repeat viewing. Here's Becky's review...

10.5 Fan Fiction
It’s always a monumental event for a show to make it to its 100th episode, but Supernatural has managed to surpass that and hit its 200th. Using the show’s internal metafiction, the Supernatural books and the Winchester fandom that exists within Sam and Dean’s world, Fan Fiction crafts an affectionate tale. It seems only fitting that the 200th episode acts as a tribute not only to the longevity of the show, but to the fans who have helped keep the show on the air this long.

I still remember the first time a spoiler truly failed me. It was the season 3 finale of The O.C., and I had read that someone was going to die. Everything I found online pointed to Sandy Cohen having a heart attack. The rumors crushed me to read—but after weeks of preparation, I was ready to try and come to terms with it. But as I sat on my couch, two minutes before the finale was scheduled to end, I realized that Sandy was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the show was focused on a car containing Ryan and Marissa.

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 23: “Do You Believe in Miracles”

Directed by Thomas J. Wright
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
Over the course of Supernatural’s ninth season, the Winchesters have faced two major threats in the form of Abaddon and Metatron. Having successfully vanquished the former, the brothers’ attention turned to the latter over the past few episodes. Metatron, however, has proven to be a trickier enemy to deal with, as he has relied on cunning to stay a step ahead of his foes, whether it’s by recruiting Gadreel to kill Kevin, or brainwashing Angels into killing themselves for Castiel. This week’s season finale sees the brothers, with the help of Castiel and Gadreel, make their final stand against the former tablet scribble, in an entertaining episode that deals a major blow to Dean.

TV’s Music Editors – much like a teenage boy making a desperate mix tape – often spend hours scouring music catalogs to find that perfect song to pull together a scene on a television show. Whether it’s a series finale or that famous bassline from Seinfeld, the audience has been programmed to listen to the background noise and music can be the added touch that makes or destroys a sequence on a television show.
Like a song on the radio during your first kiss, music has the ability to carry through emotions and images, even several years into our futures. Dinner can be entirely ruined when the person at the table next to you has a teenage daughter that can’t stop singing Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus. Music sets the mood and fleshes out emotions for an otherwise flat image.

This week’s Revenge taught me something huge: I don’t know Jack. But I think I’m starting to like him.
Who woulda thought that a liberal shot of rage and grief could turn the sad-sack, in-the-dark, possibly cuckolded recent widower into a compelling character not to be trifled with? (Ditching the poetry-slam-coffeehouse beard probably didn’t hurt, either.)
Elsewhere in the episode, Charlotte uncovered someone from Amanda/Emily’s past and The Initiative’s scariness quotient was downgraded once more — it now measures somewhere between “ticked-off librarian” and “kitten with bellyache.” Let’s review the major developments of “Retribution.

Last night on The Voice, the Battle Rounds kicked off in full force, leaving a number of casualties in its wake. Although there were some sad good byes to contestants who were only just getting started, there was a good amount of happy news for those moving forward in the competition to the later Knockout Round.
Team Blake held two Battles on last night’s episode of The Voice, beginning with country boy Casey Muessigmann going up against Scottish rocker Terry McDermott with a performance of “Carry on Wayward Son.” Although Casey started out initially shaky with team advisor, Michael Buble, suggesting he not put such a country spin on the classic song, he pulled it together and gave a strong performance. Unfortunately for Casey, however, Terry gave an even stronger performance, earning him a spot in the next round and Casey a trip home. Blake’s second battle of...

The Voice began its Battle Rounds on Monday, but this time there was a new twist that benefited a few contestants and certainly everyone watching.
One of the major problems with the Battles in the past was that it seemed they would purposefully pit two really talented contestants against each other in order to create an awesome performance that would make that specific episode more enjoyable for fans.
The problem ended up being that after that great moment, one of those two extremely talented singers was completely out of the competition (see: Anthony Evans). That wasn't good for the future of the season. Thanks to the new "steal" option after one coach picks his/her winner, that issue is moot.
In essence The Voice gets to have their moment of cake, and then eat it too as the rest of the season goes on. Let's see how much better that...

Not since Jesus Christ turned water into wine has there been as miraculous an upgrade as what we saw during the first set of Battle Rounds on Season 3 of The Voice.
What once was an exercise in frustration — watching the coaches pair up their team members in head-to-head sing-offs, then too often sending the wrong contestants home — became something that was equal parts thrilling and satisfying with the addition of “The Steal,” in which competing coaches can hit a button and add a total of two Battle Rounds losers to their teams before the live shows begin.

While seminal head-banging satirists Gwar were in town last month for Chicago's Riot Fest, they also took the time to stop by The A.V. Club's office to play the publication's final Undercover session this year.
The Undercover series entails bands passing through town covering songs selected by The A.V. Club readers inside the site's heavily autographed "little round room." As the final participants in the current series, Gwar was stuck with the one remaining song: Kansas' classic-rock radio gem "Carry On Wayward Son."

If you're not yet familiar with Timeflies Tuesday, odds are you will be sometime soon. The YouTube sensations have established themselves as a musical force to be reckoned with via their inventive cover songs and unique sound.
Timeflies started out releasing freestyle rap songs and covers every Tuesday night, with Cal Shapiro on vocals and Rob Resnick producing. But just like Justin Bieber, they instantly became a hit on YouTube and fans kept demanding more.
"Feels like every month we look back and can't believe how much has changed, but it’s all happening so fast there also isn't a lot of time to look back, it's more about focusing on moving forward," Resnick tells MTV News. "The Internet has made communication possible between anyone and everyone and has, if anything, shown the world that talent exists in even the least likely places."
"Yeah it's only natural.

Before we begin, let us take a minute, or ten, to pay homage to the Supernatural finale anthem “Carry on My Wayward Son”.
Okay… here we go. *deep breath*
Last week, the brothers collected the blood of an Alpha Vampire, bringing the Levi weapon down to the last remaining ingredients – bone of a righteous mortal and Crowley’s blood. Meanwhile, Bobby managed to possess a maid and escape with his flask, and Dick Roman trapped Crowley under a Devil’s Trap.
We return where we left off, with Crowley and Dick “negotiating like proper psychopaths.” Dick, initially, tries patronizing Crowley, but Crowley tells him to cut it out. He knows that Dick knows about the weapon and also that Crowley’s blood is integral to it. And the fact that Dick hasn’t killed him yet means that he has something up his sleeve.
So Dick lays it on him.
Okay… here we go. *deep breath*

Supernatural Review, Season 7, Episode 23: “Survival of the Fittest”
Written by Sera Gamble
Directed by Robert Singer
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on Supernatural: Cas collects honey, the guys go nun shopping, and the Impala makes an impression
After several weeks of solid, interesting episodes, episodes that seemed to be moving various pieces into precise positions, Supernatural looked to be set up for a strong, entertaining finale. As it begins, fans’ excitement will grow as the well edited recap skips through the season’s highlights, of course set to “Carry On Wayward Son”, as the season finale recaps have all been since season two.** Unfortunately, by the time the finale ends, though many will undoubtedly enjoy it, the more scrutinizing will be disappointed at the wasted potential and sheer messiness of not only this episode, but the major arcs of the final third of the season as well.

This is it, the season finale. On Sunday I posted my recap for 6x21 'Let it Bleed,' and today I'm covering the second half of Friday's finale event, 'The Man Who Knew Too Much.' It's one of those awkward title situations where you have two episodes close together with practically the same name, as we just a week ago had 'The Man Who Would Be King'... like in Buffy when they had 'Enemies' and 'Earshot' right after each other, and 'Smashed' and 'Wrecked'... those last two always confused me cause it's like, the same thing!
See? This is why I divided the recaps. I ramble. This is of course about Tmwktm, which is a mouthful. I'm also pretty sure the title refers to Sam - see, all the king's horses, and all the king's men... Sam is broken, and a large chunk of this episode will...

"Kansas continues to build musical legacy"
Story by Michael Aaron Gallagher of StayFamous.Net
Since the 1970s, Kansas has occupied the airwaves with their timeless classics like “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry On Wayward Son” (which is featured on the video games Rock Band II and Guitar Hero II). With multi-platinum selling records and a host of fans around the globe, the band continues to entertain crowds.
From left Phil Ehart, Bill Greer, Rich Williams, Steve Walsh and Dave Ragsdale.
I recently had the opportunity to ask guitarist Rich Williams about their upcoming concerts in Central New York.
Listen to a message from Rich Williams:
Michael Aaron Gallagher: "Have you spent any time in Central New York before?"
Rich Williams: "While we have played in the area several times in our 36-year career, we’ve only just passed through. That’s how life on the road goes."

"Kansas delivers timeless performance at New York State Fair"
Story by Michael Aaron Gallagher of StayFamous.Net
(Syracuse, NY) - With timeless classics like “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry On Wayward Son,” and their experienced musical prowess displayed on guitar and violin, Kansas played to a large crowd at the 2010 Great New York State Fair, proving that after more than 35 years, they are still going strong.
In a recent interview, guitarist Rich Williams told me about his favorite songs to perform live.
“I enjoy playing guitar period,” Williams said, “But because of the crowd response, ‘Dust’ and ‘Wayward Son’ are always exciting to play in front of an audience. Practicing them alone at home, not quite as exciting.”
The State Fair marked the second time this summer that the band has played in the Central New York area. In July, they also headlined a show at Oswego’s Harborfest.

Previously - there were no previouslies, but Neal and Peter found a ruby thief and saved a kid. Not bad.
Neal and Mozzie discuss building the antennae from the fractal found in the music box. Who knew this thing would get so complex? Mozzie's relishing the challenge to build it using 1940's technology, including vacuum tubes which were used in TV's, radios, and early computers. Neal: "I'm sure you will figure it out. Good work, Moz." Mozzie: "I don't like that expression…Well, work implies I have a job." I love Mozzie, but it must be for Neal to keep track of his quirks. Makes me feel sorry for Neal.
At the apartment, Neal yells for June. Is this typical or is Neal particularly excited? By the way, what happened to June's granddaughter from the pilot? You'd think she'd show up as the female eye candy. Instead, we welcome Billy Dee Williams as Ford.

The Guitar Hero franchise is finished. Or at least, it’s retiring, without much hope of a reunion tour. Activision Blizzard just released their latest investor report, and nestled in the fine print — underneath excessive fist-pumping for the monstrously successful World of Warcraft and Call of Duty franchises — you find the epitaph for one of the most influential series in videogame history: “Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011.”
There was a time when the music-videogame genre was omnipresent.

I can’t say that the music on Dexter has ever particularly stood out to me. The musical scores do a great job of setting the tone for scenes, and I always expect to hear a Latin dance-friendly tune to be playing when the Pd has a bust to make at a Miami-area club. But the show doesn’t feature much popular, radio-type music because it really doesn’t lend itself to it — which is fine. That fact, however, was what led me to be perplexed when I read that star Michael C. Hall would be hitting the airwaves on...

As the release dates for the Supernatural anime have been pushed back from January to February 2011, fans now have longer to wait for their first glimpses of the Winchesters turned animated stars. However, we are getting many tantalizing treats to tide us over; from character sketches to episode descriptions to a trailer worth its weight in gold.
When the anime project was originated, it was announced that while Dean and Sam's character sketches would look similar to Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, other characters as well as supernatural monsters would be re-imagined. Jessica Moore has become a redhead, John Winchester has become more grizzled, and Mary Winchester reminds me more of the actress than the character. However, the two characters that have departed from their actors the most seem to be Bobby Singer and Missouri Moseley. Bobby looks to be a bookie moreso than a hunter and Missouri has a...

First, Castiel is returning tonight on Supernatural after being Mia in the first two episodes of the season. Now, a new trailer has popped up for Supernatural: The Animation. Oh, the Supe gods are smiling upon us today in a glorious way!

Talk about the Supernatural anime has been going on for a little while, and series creator Eric Kripke confirmed it at Comic Con. Unfortunately, it’s only available in Japan. But the beauty of a global internet means that the rest of us non-Japanese fans can still take a peek at a trailer for the series and get additional information.
The official website can be found here. From what I can see, the animation series (to be divided into 22 episodes) will closely follow the storyline of the original series. According to Anime News Network “Warner Home Video will ship Supernatural the Animation on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on one starter disc on February 23, 2011, followed by two boxes on March 9 and April 6. (The first disc and box have been delayed by one month.)” Apparently Jared and Jensen will be dubbing two episodes in the second box set into English.
Other than animated Sam shouting “Dean!

'Supernatural' season finale recap, spoilers! As you all know, the month of May is usually when most television shows that began in the fall the previous year come to an end thus it's an extremely busy time for the networks. Of course, it's just as hectic for us guys who write for entertainment websites as big as Reel Empire due to the fact that we find ourselves recapping as many shows as possible, particularly those that caught us completely by surprise. Nevertheless, there are some finales we just can't find the time to write about thus we often turn to our friends at other websites for assistance. The finale for "Supernatural's" fifth season is no exception in this case and thanks to the kind folks over at Entertainment Weekly, writer Sandra Gonzalez to be more precise, we have a tremendous recap for those of you who may have missed the finale to check out!

It’s been a weird season of Supernatural. Since the beginning of the series, it excelled at taking us all on this great mythological ride. But whereas past seasons found a way to make every episode relevant to the larger story arcs (even the humorous episodes chock full of campy goodness), this season’s main plot seemed to hobble with a limp leg toward resolution. Don’t get me wrong: Each episode was good for what it was meant to be, but some were so lacking in purpose that a few felt like they could have been absorbed by other episodes,...

Dear Eric Kripke,
Tonight, as I watched the season five finale of Supernatural I did the following (in this order): I breathed a sigh of relief. Then I laughed so hard I nearly choked. Then I freaked out. Then I cried. Then I screamed.
Why do you get off on toying with my emotions? I hate you, you bastard.
Sincerely,
Clarissa
Drawing a Blank
Five minutes after this episode aired I sat down and tried to put fingers to keyboard to write this review. I honestly didn’t know what to say, so instead I called up my sister, shrieking “did you watch it?!” and when she replied that she hadn’t yet, I proceeded to recap the entire episode for her. She gasped in all of the appropriate places.
Now that I’ve completely spoiled the entire episode for her, I feel better prepared to share my thoughts with you.

*Sob* This is it, Supernatural fans. The season 5 finale will be airing on May 13 and the CW has released promo photos and a synopsis for the episode. Are they spoilery? In a way. So proceed at your own risk.
So it looks like the boys will be meeting Lucifer face-to-face again. But what I really want to know is, what is Dean doing rocking the hand mojo? Does he get demon or angel powers? And which "beloved character" is killed? Because this show has systematically managed to kill off the majority of recurring characters. Since Padalecki and Ackles are both contracted for next season, I'm thinking either Cas or Bobby bites the dust. Both of those possibilities distress me greatly.
At least Kripke wrote the teleplay and we'll be treated to another "Then" with "Carry On, Wayward Son". Still won't make up for the fact that they may kill Bobby or Cas though.

Jermaine Sellers, Ben Honeycutt, Jeff Goldford, Cat Nessle and Moorea Masa joined forces at American Idol Hollywood week and planned to wow the judges with their rendition of “Carry On Wayward Son”.
Moorea pushed for more harmonies, but the group disagreed and then they got yelled at by the vocal coach for not being prepared. To make matters worse, Cat Nessle walked out of the group at the last minute leaving the fivesome as a even more unprepared foursome.
Simon didn’t want to hear about their “struggles” and went on to cut Ben and Moorea. To her credit, Moorea immediately hugged her group members who made it, which we thought showed good character on her part.

Hollywood Week(s) continued on "American Idol" on Wednesday night (February 10). Ryan Seacrest apparently calls this portion of the program "Hell Week." This just in: "American Idol" is now taking cues from sororities! I can't wait until next week's episode, when all the contestants lay naked on the floor while Kara DioGuardi circles body fat with a Sharpie.
Wednesday night was the dreaded "Group Night," where, like every other season, the remaining 96 hopefuls broke off into small groups, took over hallways and lobbies of a hotel in California and sang Motown tunes into half-empty water bottles all through the night. (Seriously, I hope "Idol" buys out that entire hotel. Imagine the phone calls the front desk guy must get at four in the morning: "They're still singing 'Get Ready' in the hallway!" "Two people are screaming about choreography outside my door." "I accidentally bought a porno flick 90 minutes ago. I won't be charged,...

Chicago – How do you judge a game like “Guitar Hero: Smash Hits”? Like a greatest hits collection for a respected artist, the actual content of the title is sure to give fans what they’re looking for with hours of entertainment. Only when you look deeper at the decisions made in the production of the game and the delivery of its content does “Smash Hits” begin to frustrate.
