Chuckwagon Theater was on Channel 4 (WTTV) which was one of four channels (on VHF) in central Indiana. Channel 4 was an independent station, with the other three being network affiliates. The program was hosted by Cowboy Bob who would show cartoon such as Bugs Bunny and other Warner Brothers cartoons. Cowboy Bob would sometimes speak to Cookie, the cook for the chuckwagon. Cookie was always off screen and was only heard, when Cookie would try to come on screen there would be some technical difficulty with the picture. Sourdough the Singing Biscuit, originally an actual biscuit as a baby, but who grew up into a large biscuit puppet was another character on the show. Frequently there would be guests on the show, often times referred to as Wrangler John or Wrangler Jim, etc. depending on the persons name.
I have nothing but fond memories of Cowboy Bob and Chuckwagon Theater. I lived a block from my elementary school and walked home for lunch. While I was home I would watch the show. I believe it changed names to Cowboy Bob's Corral when it changed air time to later in the day.
