The poorly titled feature "Inner Blues" is ugly to look at, likely shot on film but without the skill of real movies, as video had already taken over production by 1988 for porn. It seems to be a takeoff on the popular institution Studio 54 since the action takes place at a strip joint named Club 64, but there the resemblance ends. This is a seedy place and doesn't resemble at all the hedonistic celebrity-laden dance club that, like Plato's Retreat, was among the iconic places to be during the Disco era.
Instead we have low lifes headed by manager William Margold, hanging out there with the main story of beautiful Taija Rae's quest to become an exotic dancer living with down and out musician Jerry Butler lost amidst numerous sex scenes. The starry cast has cliched, routine roles, and the music score by Gutz drones on dully.
