Phony baloney "Woman's Picture"
lor_4 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Erry Ross is equivalent to being the Ross Hunter of porn features. He produces and also writes movies that are story driven, with plenty of soap opera content and presenting a woman's perspective -that's all to the good, but what's missing is sincerity and real storytelling.

So while I'm more than receptive to a video like "Temptations", which seems to be approaching a mainstream movie with explicit sex, not gonzo trash, it manages to miss the mark by a mile.

Aja gets top billing, yet Victoria Paris is obviously the central character, Aja being her best friend (and given a paper-thin role). The soap opera situation is quite simple, in fact diretor J. T. Monroe's script is too obvious. Victoria is celebrating her birthday with boyfriend Jon Dough and hoping he'll pop the question, as she confides in her BFF Aja. But he is a total cad, with the audience given way too much information on his failings, making it hard to believe what Vic sees in him.

Movie begins with Aja having sex with her boyfriend Mark Hunter, and later in the movie they have sex again in the bathroom. He was unimpressive and when Iooked up his credits it turns out he's a Gay Porn player, whose only boy/girl scene was with Aja.

Dough takes Vic out for dinner and then drags her to a party at Randy Spears' place with lots of extras there (who get screen credit for nothing) including Eric Price shown for a second or two. Vic is uncomfortable and asks Dough to take her home, where he seduces her after some idiotic set-up material in which he plays with one of her plush toys, a beaver! She won't let him cum inside her, but grabs some kleenex and has him pop on her hands and the tissue. Immediately afterward he pulls a hit and run routine, claiming he's got to get home to go to sleep, to be fresh when he gets up to go to work next day. She's quite disappointed -no engagement ring for her from this creep.

I already had a big hate for Dough, but the lousy screenplay has him instead heading back to the party, where most folks have gone home, except exotic Jade East, who immediately seduces Jon. Believe it or not (and I groaned mightily at this ridiculous plot ploy), Vic looks up Randy Spears' phone number, calls the party and right during sex Jade picks up the phone and is unbelievably stupid in giving away the fact that Jon is there and he's asked her to say he's not there! You don't get idiotic content like that in a glossy Ross Hunter movie like "All That Heaven Allows" or "Pillow Talk!".

Plenty more sex scenes follow, including a subplot involving dance instructor Tom Byron who falls for a pretty student Jackie Ann (another miscasting -she can't act at all and was a total flop in porn). Yet another blind alley in the script has no-talent, unappealing Jeff James as a photographer that Vic gets a crush on -his flat line readings are terrible and so is his sex scene with Vic is saved for last and a total flop.

Finale has Dough showing up like a bad penny to try and win Vic back, and lying through his teeth about the unfaithful sex he had with Jade. She tells him off, gives him his walking papers and the lousy film finally ends. "I don't want somebody that I have to change" is her big line. It makes for one of the worst endings -I'd rather watch "The Young and the Restless" or :"General Hospital" than this ersatz stinker.
