Personal liberalization advocate in the 1930's
zzmale7 April 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: A Shanghai Young lady.

This movie made in the pre-revolutionary era China has the same idea of most post-revolutionary era Chinese movies made during the recent Chinese reform: the advocate of personal liberalization and the criticism of the traditional rigid Confucian teachings that discriminated against women.

But every unfortunately, the box office performance of this movie can not match those current Chinese movies of the same idea because the audience back then was simply not ready for such idea yet.
