This film fails miserably.
Blinkiegirl1 March 2003
I happened upon this short movie while flipping around channels and since it was so short, I decided to see just what it had to offer. Unfortunately, it offered VERY little. Whether I consider directing, acting, cinematography, screenplay or score, it's sorely lacking in quality. Fellow commenter Jeff from LA states, "...it has a positive message that any Christian should be able to relate to." This may well be true, but since the stated intention of the film was to speak to non-believers in a meaningful way, I'd say this film fails miserably.

Hideous Christian film
diamonddevil1611 August 2002
I watched "The Appointment" on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. It was not the worst Christian movie I have ever seen, but it could qualify for the Top Ten. (There are plenty of "Jesus films" that have bad actors, bad scripts, and bad special effects.) Anyway, "The Appointment" is a made-for-video about a woman who is told she has a limited amount of time to live. She is told this by a mysterious man who gives her a Bible. She says she gave those "fairy-tales" up a long time ago. If someone came into MY office and told me I only had a certain amount of time to live, I would call the police. Anyway, following this incident the lady gets paranoid and slowly realizes that maybe she SHOULD be saved. Unfortunately, she is a little too late.

The ending isn't happy, but it certainly did not make any impression on me. It can truthfully be described as cheesy and laughable. The acting was stiff and the script was terrible. I recommend you NOT use this as a witnessing tool. TRUST ME.

Packed with suspense!

I was able to view this on The Inspiration Network. It really kept me on the edge of my chair!

This film deals with a news reporter who writes an article dealing with hypocrisy in the Christian community. After it appears in print, she receives a "visitor" in her office, telling her the specific date and time she is going to die.

This was one excellent film! This film was packed with so much truth, it is definitely WORTH a look!

A solid Christian film
Flmbff13 September 2002
This was noted Christian director Rich Christiano's first short film and it has become extremely successful, selling thousands of copies and airing often on Christian television. The story is compelling and interesting and it has a positive message that any Christian should be able to relate to. Technically, it's not polished, but that's not the most important thing. It's worth checking out, despite what "Ann" from Fairweather says.

*Today* is the day of your salvation. *Now* is the right time. Contains spoilers.

Warning: Spoilers
Disturbing But P-O-W-E-R-F-U-L!

If I were not already a Christian, after seeing this film, I would have *run* to Jesus and thrown myself at his mercy for the forgiveness of my sins and eternal salvation.

I liked the Way Of the Master type interviews "Liz" conducts as she tries to find the way to heaven. Over and over again (except for one person who answers correctly), she gets the same responses to her question: Being a good person, living a moral life, even, "Who cares?", instead of trusting in what Jesus Christ did for us when he shed his blood and died on the cross as full payment for our sins. Typical, just as in real life. Typical of *myself* before my own conversion recently.

God was gracious to "Liz", and gave her something that people in real life (though I could be mistaken) never get: Being told the exact day and time of our death--not to mention the extra time to come to our senses and repent of our sins. But like people in real life, she blew it. She blew off her one chance to be reconciled to God and to receive his grace and free gift of eternal life. And it's in *this* life we get that one chance. After (physical) death, comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

While it's true that some of these films don't have the best acting or lighting or whatever, is not the point. Forgiveness of sin and salvation through faith in Christ alone are.

Perfect for what it is.

Are you searching for the perfect media? One that has a cheap retro aesthetic, self righteous Christianity, and shoulder pads? Then you have found the movie for you! Enjoy.

If that's not your thing then it's just as bad as you expect.

Great Film!

The Appointment is a very good movie, watch it over and over again and it never gets boring.... Yes the story is too simple but it delivers and it gets better and better with each viewing, I like Liz Watson's character.... Basically some guy strolls into her office and tells Liz who does articles in newspapers or something that on September 19th at 6:05pm she's going to die and that message was given to him from the Lord Jesus Christ by the way...... After hearing the message Liz is basically on edge pretty much all through the film until the credits roll but won't spoil it by telling you the ending.... Great film, check it out.

If you had a week to live

Warning: Spoilers
I always love watching these "independant" little films that have something positive to say about religion. So many times when I have gone to see a Christian movie I am the only one in the entire theatre! Mainstream Hollywood seems so angry and cyncial about God. It seems like every time they show a "godly" figure in a film it turns out they are either crazy or corrupt (for example I always think of Warden Norton in The Shawshank Redemption). This little film is about Liz a hard boiled cynical writer who regularly mocks God in her columns. All of a sudden she begins having eerie encounters with a mysterious entity who tell her that she needs to get right with God because her days are numbered. She is shaken and begins to have serious quesitons. A highlight of the film is where one of her coworkers gives her a beautiful message about how it is our faith in God and Jesus that gets us to Heaven not necessarily the good deeds we do. The once cyncial young reporter does a number of interviews with people on the street asking them about how you get to Heaven. SPOILER sadly Liz doesn't take the message to heart. She narrowly escapes an officer fire in the end only to fall off the sidewalk into the path of an oncoming car. Make peace with God before its too late all you have to do is kneel and speak from your heart.
