Besides getting to see all our old favorites dancing their way back across Greece, the sequel (shot on location in Croatia) will feature a whole new set of players to represent...

For three decades, Colin Firth has been wowing us on stage and screen. With a résumé that spans everything from period dramas to action films, he's proven that there is nothing he can't do (including tackling Abba songs in Mamma Mia). For his role in The King's Speech, he became the worthy recipient of an Oscar for best actor (to add to his trio of SAG Awards, his two BAFTA awards, and his Golden Globe). Not many men have played two Mr Darcy's quite so memorably, and Mr Firth definitely knows how to turn on the charm when it comes to his many outings as a romantic lead. Right now, he's on cinema screens as the impossibly dapper Harry Hart in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and he's never looked better. Don't believe us? Take a look back at his celebrity evolution, including some very memorable roles and red carpet appearances.

Today, in setting yourself up for a needlessly difficult series of comparisons: Baby Driver star Lily James has signed on for the Mamma Mia! sequel, Here We Go Again, where she’ll play a younger version of Meryl Streep. Per Deadline, James has been cast as “Young Donna,” the earlier version of Streep’s worldly chanteuse, as she gets into various romantic scrapes with whoever’s stuck playing the younger versions of Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth.
Here We Go Again has already confirmed that much of the original movie’s cast—including Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Christine Baranski—will return for the sequel, while Ol Parker, who helmed The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, is set to direct. The new film is expected to extend this unlikely franchise’s dive into Abba’s musical catalog, while also bringing back some of the first film’s biggest hits.

In the summer of 2008, Mamma Mia! was a sunny, surprising smash on the big screen. It was adapted from an immensely popular musical that debuted in London in 1999 and opened on Broadway in 2001; the musical was inspired by the songs of 1970s Swedish pop sensation Abba. None of that was a guarantee for movie success, of course, especially since it opened opposite The Dark Knight. Some felt that Mamma Mia! would be swamped by the superhero blockbuster. While it's true that Mamma Mia! made far less money at the box office in the U.S. than The Dark Knight, its overseas receipts more than tripled its total. In sum, Mamma Mia! earned more than $600 million worldwide, an amazing return in comparison to the movie's rather modest $52 million budget. The top-billed Meryl...

Good news for Abba fans who can’t get enough of love triangles, big musical numbers, and sugar-dense sweetness: Universal has just placed a sequel to Mamma Mia! onto its 2018 film schedule. Subtitled, with a somewhat appropriate weariness, Here We Go Again!, the film will be written and directed by Ol Parker, who penned the screenplay for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
It’s not clear how Universal intends to follow on from the original, which saw big-name stars like Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth beg each other to take a chance on them, all against the backdrop of Streep’s daughter’s wedding. One possible direction being flouted is a prequel, tracing the paths of the older characters back in the ’70s, although anything that minimizes Streep’s presence seems like a misstep, given that she was the most successful part of the 2008 original.

Who is Mr. Ketch?
The final moments of Supernatural Season 12 Episode 2 offered a glimpse of the presumably dangerous man called upon by Mick to help him and Toni get their “hands dirty” in dealing with the Winchesters and American hunters. And he looked to be packing up quite the assortment of weapons for his trip.
It was a decent tease, especially in not revealing what he looks like, leaving us only to imagine what type of foe Sam and Dean will be looking to face off with soon enough.

So far Supernatural Season 12 seems to be taking things slowly, offering a few bits and pieces of where the story might be headed. I’m still wary of what’s in store, but “Mamma Mia” offered a variety of moments to keep me on the hook.

The trailer for Owen Wilson and Ed Helms’ Bastards looks like it was beamed in from 2005. The pair play a couple of schmucks whose mother (Glenn Close) tells them that, even though they thought their dad died of colon cancer, she doesn’t actually know who their father is. So they go out searching and quiz the likes of Terry Bradshaw and a tattooed J.K. Simmons. It’s like Mamma Mia!, but with more butthole jokes and less Abba. Bastards is the directorial debut of cinematographer Lawrence Sher, who was the Dp on all three Hangover movies. Lest you think this movie is going to surprise you, there’s an unsavory gag which involves the two picking up a black hitchhiker and then tying him up in the back of their car.
Bastards hits theaters January 27.

It’s looking ever more likely that every film will be adapted for TV—and vice versa—with the occasional live production of such properties thrown in for good measure. 2016’s had a virtual bumper crop of adaptations of the latter, including plans for a True Blood musical, and a forthcoming Cheers play. And now, for the Abba fans out there who weren’t satiated by Mamma Mia’s long theater run or its film adaptation, Deadline reports that there’s a Muriel’s Wedding musical in the works.
Global Creatures, which already has a Moulin Rouge! Broadway musical in the works, will soon invite Sydney residents to dance and jive at the Muriel’s Wedding musical next year. (And how could we ever refuse? We feel like we win when we lose.) The original Australian film starred Toni Collette as Muriel (or Mariel) and Rachel Griffiths as Rhonda ...
