Two men and a baby.
ulicknormanowen6 March 2020
Half a century before Coline Serreau and her "Trois Hommes Et Un Couffin" (remade in America as "three man and a baby") ,and even before John Ford's excellent "three godfathers", this medium-length film dealt with the problems of two middled age confirmed bachelors with a baby.

Two well-to-do industrialists ,who are having a drink in a cafe have found a baby in a basket with a note which reads "take care of him" .And take care of him, both gentlemen will do dutifully, going as far as to propose the prodigal mother who has finally come back to her babe ; thus ,she's spoilt for choice ,all the more since she has fallen in love with a younger man.

It only lasts 41 min ,but it's still much fun to watch it 86 years later .Good moments :

The nanny (nurse ) they hire is English because at the time they were considered the best.As they do not know a single word in this language, the men and the spinster are not listening to each other ,although one of the "father" translates in pidgin French his friend's words. There's even a surprise when she is sacked.

The servant who has promised to keep it under her hat ,rushes to the phone and shortly after, thanks to a word of mouth , the news spreads like wildfire in town.

To find back the true mother , the "fathers" use a trick king Solomon would approve of.

Smart ending : both heroes speak to the audience ,as though they were on a stage .

Worth watching.
