After winning an Emmy for playing a laconic cyber security hacker on Mr. Robot, Rami Malek now has the challenge of portraying the flashy frontman for Queen, the late Freddie Mercury. Malek dished to Et about how deep he's diving into the role.
"I will sing a little bit," Malek told Et's Kevin Frazier at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. "Why not?"

While Malek might not share Mercury's legendary four-octave range, his Mr. Robot co-star, Christian Slater, assured us that Malek will do more than hold his own.
"We share dressing rooms, and I put a cup up and I hear him singing in there," Slater explained. "It's going to blow everybody away."
This won't be the first time Malek sings on camera. The 35-year-old actor once belted out "Put on a Happy Face" on the canceled Fox sitcom, The War at Home.

Absolutely no one, except for maybe Charlie, has a good time in The Newsroom this week. While the beetle-browed news boss blinks in disbelief over an Operation Genoa windfall, his underlings engage in petty bickering, day-drinking, wallowing, sniping, error-making, almost-job-losing and D-list-stardom-busting. Oh, and then someone dies. Put on a happy face – you’re gonna need it – as we review what happens in “News Night With Will McAvoy.”

Blood Lite III: Aftertaste
The third book in the hilarious and horrifying national bestselling anthology series from the Horror Writers Association–a frightfest of sidesplitting stories from such “New York Times” bestselling authors as Jim Butcher, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Heather Graham, L.A. Banks, Kelley Armstrong, and many more
Horror fiction explores the dark side of human nature, often pushing the limits of violence, graphic gore, and extreme emotions. But with the popularity of shows and movies, such as “The Walking Dead,” “True Blood,” “Twilight,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” audiences have demonstrated their love for the genre–especially accompanied with a dose of humor to tone down the terror.
“Blood Lite III: Aftertaste” continues to put the fun back into dark fiction, featuring a wide range of humorous and highly entertaining horror-filled tales. Edited by Horror Writers Association founding member and award-winning author Kevin J. Anderson, the stories vary in tone...

The 2010 Nobel Prizes were given out a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve already got next year’s top contender for best chemistry: Michael Feinstein and Cheyenne Jackson, for making their dynamite duo debut at Carnegie Hall.
Michael Feinstein and Cheyenne Jackson
(Linda Lenzi/Broadway World)
Called “The Power of Two,” this electrifying evening last Friday was based on their cabaret act from June 2009 at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency in New York City. For Carnegie, however, this charismatic combo added about a half-dozen songs, backed by a swingy, 17-piece band, masterfully music-directed by John Oddo, who also did the arrangements.
“The Power of Two” is a study in contrasts. Feinstein, 54, is the king of cabaret, a music historian and host of PBS’ American Songbook series. Jackson, 35, is the Broadway matinee idol of All Shook Up and Finian’s Rainbow and a TV star of 30 Rock and Glee.

The Hills' sixth season premiered on a note that was more real - as opposed to nonsensically, boringly contrived - than we've seen in a few years. That's the good news.
The bad news is that "Put on a Happy Face" showed us just how sad and pathetic the real lives of the cast members actually are. This is the final season for a reason.
In early 2009, this show crossed the line from harmless guilty pleasure to almost unwatchable social experiment, and one whose redeeming worth expired long ago.
Reality TV, it was. The cast members' lives were accurately depicted last night, which we can vouch for because The Hills stars are covered daily in celeb gossip blogs.
The problem is that their lives have no actual meaning.

Heidi Montag on "The Hills" Tuesday
Photo: MTV
From the cover of People magazine to a much-publicized sit-down on "Good Morning America," Heidi Montag has made the rounds flaunting her brand-new body, a result of a staggering 10 plastic surgery procedures. But on Tuesday's final season premiere episode of "The Hills," the 23-year-old may have faced her harshest critics: her parents.
The episode opened with Heidi's sister-in-law, Stephanie Pratt, and Lo Bosworth discussing Stephanie's recent DUI and Super Bowl weekend plans in Miami, but the conversation quickly turned toward rumors of Heidi's makeover.
"There's been some talk about Heidi and a new face," Lo divulged. "This is all hearsay: eyebrow lift, ears pinned back, nose job, chin job, boob job, butt job." Having not seen Heidi or brother Spencer in months, Stephanie could only sit, mouth gaping in...

When I first heard of the new ABC creepy-mystery-drama show I was hopeful just based on the cast. Sam Neill, Amy Acker, Frances Conroy and Steven Weber are probably the most noteable and all have done great projects in the passed. Neill’s performance definitely stands out but after watching this first episode I suppose I should add “confusing” to my hyphenated description of the show above.
Happy Town is the nickname of Haplin, Minnesota where the show takes place. It’s a picturesque small town where everyone is civil, friendly and the town has no crime. The local bread factory employs over 10% of the townsfolk and give the town itself the scent of down home goodness. All of this, however, is simply window dressing on the surface. Wipe away the facade and you start to delve into a world that quickly confused me and required me to go back...

One of my favorite episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show is "Put On a Happy Face" from season three. It's the one where Mary is nominated for a Teddy Award, but everything in her life suddenly starts going wrong. It starts with a "hair bump," then moves on to a sprained foot, a nasty cold, a dress that comes back from the cleaners with a horrible purple spot on it, a broken hairdryer, and Ted as a date for the awards ceremony.
So Mary ends up going to the event with a dress borrowed from Rhoda that looks like something a grandmother (back then) might wear. It starts raining so the slipper she's wearing on her sore foot gets soggy, and then her false eyelash comes off just as they announce her name as the winner. Seriously, Mary still looks pretty fantastic even when her life goes to heck.

Oh, the joys of live theater. The final preview performance of the Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie was halted for about 20 minutes Wednesday night when the electronically controlled set failed to clear during a scene change. The curtain fell on the big-budget musical, which is slated to open Thursday night, and star John Stamos appeared in front of a lights-up auditorium to stall for time as technicians worked backstage. Stamos called out to fellow celebs in the audience, including comedian Don Rickles, who shouted out from his seat to rib the former Full House star to get a haircut.
