Warning: Spoilers
When this film was made this country was fighting the Battle of the Atlantic, and losing it.So it would appear that films such as these were made to encourage men of military age to volunteer for the Merchant Marine regardless of whether they had a family and regardless of the wishes of their family.Wilfred Lawson and his wife have already lost a son to the sea in peacetime. The father decides to retire from the sea.The remaining son follows his mothers wishes and takes up electrical engineering and marries his sweetheart. However war comes along and eventually the son and father are lured back to the sea to do their duty.Clearly made on a low budget this is still of interest.
