A miniature Poodle named Sage has won Best in Show at the 2024 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
This historic win marks the fourth time a Miniature Poodle has secured the top honor at the prestigious event. It cements the breed’s legacy as a favorite dog breed nationwide.
Sage’s journey to the pinnacle of canine excellence began with a performance in the Non-Sporting Group, where she outshone her peers and secured her place in the final round. Sage faced off against an impressive lineup of champions from diverse breed groups, but her poise, confidence and undeniable charm ultimately earned her the top title. This marks the first female Best in Show winner since 2020.
The runner-up, Mercedes the German Shepherd, who triumphed in the Herding Group, was awarded the Reserve Best in Show title.
Poodles, in all their sizes and variations, have long been a dominant force at the Westminster Dog Show.

This Is Spinal Tap is one of the most quotable films in cinema history and defined the genre of film known today as the mockumentary.
Rob Reiner’s 1984 directorial debut about an aging English metal band chronicled fame, groupies and their fateful tour and would set the bar for the style of film to satirize a subject depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. They often use the conventions of traditional documentaries, such as interviews and narration, to tell a fictional or exaggerated story.
Christopher Guest, who portrayed Nigel Tufnel in This Is Spinal Tap, would go on to direct and star with an incredible ensemble cast in many of his productions that included Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge in the classic mockumentaries Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration and Mascots.

Here’s a fun fact: Thanks to his lineage, writer/director/actor Christopher Guest has an inherited royal title — the 5th Baron Haden-Guest — and for three years was an active member of the British House of Lords. In his spare time, however, Baron Haden-Guest makes delightfully silly movies that make audiences around the globe very happy.
Guest largely worked as an actor in the 1970s, with stage and TV appearances mixed with occasional side gigs with the satirists The National Lampoon. His breakthrough role came in 1984 as lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel in Rob Reiner‘s classic comedy “This Is Spinal Tap,” whose improvisational style proved to be an enormous influence when Guest began directing films five years later. That technique came to full fruition in his second directorial effort, 1996’s “Waiting For Guffman,” where he gathered together a group of great comic actors who formed a loose repertory company that...

In a 2022 interview for Variety, actor, writer, and director Christopher Guest said, “When I met (Jennifer Coolidge), I knew there was something going on that was special. And I was right, fortunately.” He praised her ability to command attention without commanding the dialogue. “This person stands out. Everyone else to me is invisible. You want to see her.”
We have seen her on our television and theater screens since the early 90s. And 2023 may have been her best year yet.
So, what happened to Jennifer Coolidge, the self-deprecating eccentric humorist and sometimes sex symbol, who owns over 100 credits in television and film? To know that, we must do what we always do: start at the beginning where the beginning began.

Chicago – The seemingly middle-of-the-road character actor Bob Balaban has more to his legacy than just a ton of appearances from the 1960s to present in classic films and TV. His Chicago family were pioneers in film exhibition and the movie executive suite during the studio system in the early days of the history of film. It is in his DNA.
The amazing story of Chicago’s Balaban family began soon after they emigrated from Russia. His uncles formed a coalition with Sam Katz to build theaters. The Balaban & Katz brand meant the highest quality movie palaces eventually, the ultimate in the early 20th Century movie experience before television … two prominent theaters still standing are the city-symbolic Chicago Theatre and the still-closed-but-still-standing Uptown Theatre. Bob was born in Chicago, and his father built his favorite theatre icon (as told in the Podtalk below). For the final flourish, his uncle Barney Balaban...

Actors Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest’s romance spans over four decades, beginning with Curtis revealing that it was love at first sight.
“I met my husband by seeing his picture in a magazine and saying out loud to a friend of mine, ‘I’m going to marry that dude,’ and married him … months later,” Curtis shared on Today in 2021. “So the truth of the matter is life hinged for me on a couple seconds that I didn’t see coming.”
Curtis ended up meeting Guest through a chance meeting in 1984. Initially, a friend gave Curtis Guest’s agent’s phone number. She called him but he never returned her call. But it was Kismet when she bumped into him at a restaurant.
When Jamie Lee Curtis met Christopher Guest …
Curtis recalled that initial meeting with Guest. “He was sitting about 10 feet away and he looked at me and kind of nodded.

Jennifer Coolidge is revealing her past roommate. In an interview with British GQ, the 61-year-old actress shares that she platonically lived with Eddie Kaye Thomas, her “American Pie” love interest, for a year or two in the early aughts.
“I wasn’t the love of his life,” Coolidge explains with a laugh. “He had girlfriends. My bedroom was across the hallway from his.”
Coolidge starred in “American Pie” as Stifler’s mom in the 1999 flick and its follow-up films. In an interview with Variety last year, Coolidge revealed that playing the Milf came with quite the benefits.
“I got a lot of play of being a Milf and I got a lot of sexual action from ‘American Pie’,” she said at the time. “There were so many benefits to doing that movie. I mean there would be, like, 200 people that I would have never slept with.”

Hollywood star Jennifer Coolidge says she makes “a lot of mistakes” in life. The actress found fame when she was cast as Stifler’s Mom in the 1999 coming-of-age comedy ‘American Pie’ before going on to star opposite Reese Witherspoon in ‘Legally Blonde’ and alongside Hilary Duff in ‘A Cinderella Story’ but started to ‘pursue guys’ rather than drive her career forward at that time, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“Now that I’m old enough to really look back at my life and certainly my mistakes, I see a lot of those. But I never had any strategy. I just went job to job. I have to say I made the terrible mistake of not riding the wave that I had early on,” she told Variety.

Jennifer Coolidge first met Jeremy Allen White at the Golden Globes in January, when they were both waiting backstage to get their statuettes engraved. Coolidge had just added another trophy to her mantel for playing the desperately lonely heiress Tanya McQuoid in Season 2 of “The White Lotus,” HBO’s biting parable about American excess. Jeremy Allen White, meanwhile, won his Globe for his tightly wound portrayal of Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on FX’s “The Bear” — a show and a performance that function as an ode to America’s working class. Far from the idyllic beauty of Tanya’s Sicilian vacation (which ends tragically for her), Carmy cooks restaurant food as he boils with rage and grief in a cramped Chicago kitchen.

"These people are really weird." Searchlight Pictures has revealed their fun first official trailer for the indie comedy Theater Camp, a mockumentary in the same vein as Waiting for Guffman or Best in Show. This first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was a massive hit, one of the best of the fest, I loved it and raved about it in my own review as well. The acclaimed faux documentary film follows the eccentric staff of a rundown theater camp in upstate New York, as they band together with the beloved founder's bro-y son to keep the camp afloat, when she falls into a coma right before the summer session is set to begin. They attempt to put on a masterpiece to save their theater camp known as "AdirondACTS". The ensemble cast of this comedy includes Noah Galvin, Molly Gordon, Ben Platt, Jimmy Tatro, Patti Harrison,...

Jennifer Coolidge accepted the Comedic Genius Award during the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday.
After showing a montage of clips from some of the actress’ most iconic roles, Coolidge took to the screen in a pretaped video to show her appreciation, saying, “Thank you, MTV. Thank you for honoring me with this incredible Comedic Genius Award. Wow. Wow.”
She said the award was even more special because she gets to “be in the club” with previous Comedic Genius Award recipients, including Jack Black, Sacha Baron Cohen, Melissa McCarthy, Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.
Coolidge added that one of the reasons she’s so thrilled about the honor is because “it’s just ironic that this award would be made of my favorite food, popcorn.”

About 3,000 dapper dogs descend on New York City for the 147th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show May 6-9. After a two-year stint in Tarrytown, New York, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the show is back in the boroughs at its new venue, the Usta Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. A bloodhound named Gchb Ch Flessner’s Toot My Own Horn (pictured) — “Trumpet” for short — won Best in Show in 2022. It’s the first win for a bloodhound, and only the seventh win from the Hound Group. We fetched some facts about the most popular and prestigious of dog shows: 1. The Wkc Dog Show is the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S., behind only the Kentucky Derby. 2. The American Kennel Club recognizes 212 breeds of dog. So your puggle, Chiweenie, labradoodle or bullshih may be a wonderful companion, but it’s no show dog. Also, since...

Who’s ready to party?
Parker Posey’s beloved 1995 coming-of-age comedy “Party Girl” celebrates a 4K restoration with a national tour to mark the 28th anniversary of the film. “Party Girl” kicks off in New York City at the IFC Center on April 28, followed by a live Q&a with lead star Posey. The film simultaneously debuts in Los Angeles at Glendale Laemmle Theatre and Landmark Westwood Theatre also on April 28, with a live Q&a with film director Daisy von Scherler Mayer.
In the classic film, a 20-something, irresponsible party girl is bailed out of jail by her librarian godmother. To repay the loan, she starts working at the library and gradually turns her life around.
“We made this movie for ‘the kids’ — as we called them — young people from small towns, who had big dreams, and who weren’t, for whatever reason, conforming to the status quo,” Posey shared with IndieWire.

If little gold men were awarded for the most environmentally friendly Oscars attendees, then Ed Begley Jr and Hayden Carson Begley would be the toast of Tinseltown.
For the third time, the veteran actor and his daughter used Los Angeles’ extensive bus and rail network to get to the Academy Awards, proudly flashing their metro cards when they arrived at the red carpet.
They told The Independent this week about their love of public transport and efforts to encourage more Angelenos to hop on a bus or train in a city where it’s a far less ubiquitous choice than New York, San Francisco or Chicago.
Begley Jr, star of numerous Christopher Guest movies including Best In Show , and dozens of TV series like Better Call Saul, Arrested Development and the recently revived Party Down, said photographers and fans alike were amused by their low-key commute to Hollywood’s biggest night.

Eugene Levy isn’t afraid to call it like it is, and according to the Schitt’s Creek actor, mockumentary filmmaking is going the way of the dodo. Levy, of course, is a star player in Christopher Guest’s troupe of comedians who elevated the mockumentary platform to new heights with films like Waiting for Guffman, Mascots, For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, and This is Spinal Tap. Each offers an in-depth look at the personalities and unprofessionalism behind the music scene, show dog competitions, and more. The mockumentary style breaks the fourth wall, making camera operators and crew members a part of the drama, for better or worse. It’s a film style that lends to plenty of laughs when used strategically, and Levy says the art form of mockumentary filmmaking is dying.

Bad news for any comedy fan hoping Christopher Guest might get his troupe back together for another mockumentary movie. Guest and actors such as Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Jane Lynch and more popularized the fake documentary format with comedy classics such as “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind” and “Waiting for Guffman.” Guest even co-wrote and acted in perhaps the most famous mockumentary of all time, 1984’s “This Is Spinal Tap.” Yet Levy recently told The Guardian that another mockumentary from the Guest troupe is unlikely.
“No, I don’t think it will happen,” Levy said. “Our last one was ‘For Your Consideration’ back in 2006. Our fake documentaries — Chris always hated the term ‘mockumentary’ because we’re not mocking, it’s more affectionate than that — but they were getting a little cookie-cutter in terms of story. Everything was kind of the same, except we just changed the subject. At a certain point,...

One of the greatest mockumentaries of all time is “This Is Spinal Tap,” and while filmmaker Christopher Guest didn’t direct it (that was Rob Reiner), he did co-write it with his co-stars Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Reiner. Soon after, Guest took that formula and ran with it, creating several other classic mockumentary comedies, including “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” “For Your Consideration,” and the last one, “Mascots” in 2016 for Netflix.

Ed Begley Jr. is looking back on how his environmental activism negatively affected his career.
The “Better Call Saul” star admitted that his agents told him to “back off” his eco-friendly dedication so that he could land more roles — and, at one point, after crew members on film sets were stressed the recycling bins had not been properly disposed of in Begley’s presence. Begley was also approached during the 1994 film “The Pagemaster” by a producer who anticipated the actor would not want to film a scene involving him driving a car.

Ingmar Bergman had Liv Ullmann. Woody Allen had Diane Keaton and Christopher Guest had Catherine O’Hara — that’s how actor John Michael Higgins summed up the stature of O’Hara’s work on screen with Guest and other top directors during a wide-ranging Q&a held Saturday as part of the sixth annual USC Comedy Festival.
The Emmy-winning O’Hara was honored with the Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Masters of Comedy Award at the festival, in recognition of her long, and often underrated, career in film, TV, stage and sketch comedy.
The Oakie Foundation honors the lives and work of two comedy legends, Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie. Jack Oakie won a supporting actor Oscar for Charlie Chaplins’ 1940 satire “The Great Dictator.” Victoria Oakie was a comedy trouper who had supporting roles (as Victoria Horne) in numerous films, most memorably opposite Jimmy Stewart in 1950’s “Harvey.”

The lively Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus: Sicily”) recently chatted with Gold Derby’s Rob Licuria about Season 2 of the HBO mega-hit and how her life has changed over these past couple of years. “[Showrunner] Mike White gave me a couple gifts, some giant gifts, and I mean, it doesn’t feel real. But I’m as grateful as I could ever be,” she tells us.
Coolidge won an Emmy Award for playing rich hotel guest Tanya McQuoid during the first season of “The White Lotus,” and a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for the second installment. During her Globes speech, the actress thanked some producers that had kept her afloat throughout her career, but forgot to mention Christopher Guest. “That was a big regret … I just completely left him out by accident,” she says about her director from films like “Best in Show” (2000) and “A Mighty Wind” (2003).

Parker Posey knows it’s not all daisies and roses when it comes to female-centric stories onscreen.
The “Best in Show” and “Dazed and Confused” star looked back on her decades in Hollywood and the “intensely male-dominated” films that are greenlit.
“Your 20s are really intense and then the culture changes and you’re, like, ‘Where am I going to fit in? I’m going to be in “Blade: Trinity” playing a vampire? Never thought I’d see the day but yeah, I want to work and that’ll be interesting,'” Parker told The New York Times while in conversation with Hari Nef. “And then it’s the 40s. It’s heartbreaking when you become aware of just how intensely male-dominated our stories are, especially when you mature as a person and as a woman.”
Posey continued, “I’m so lucky as a middle-aged woman to be playing this part.
