This is a classic National Film Board of Canada animated short from back in the day, eh? Anglophone Canadians were ever self-conscious because of their francophonic abilities - in part, due to their own linguistic parochialism & inflexibility? - but at some point were obliged to get along with their Quebecois brothers & sisters; with "Canadian Vignettes: Instant French," they could now avoid the heartache & embarrassment of misspoken French, and be fully participant partners in a bilingual nation.

Now, if only such a contraption could save us today - a device that could translate from within-the-Beltway-speak to plain American English....

This short is my absolute favourite of the Canada Vignettes series. I remember actually doing a class project about this short when I was in high school. It always stayed with me and I was recently able to watch it again. It is unique and hilarious. I highly recommend watching this gem.
