The 80s were flooded with family formulas . Srividya the maternal head of a family with 2 sons is having problem after problem. Though very rich , her first son Mamooty is a drunk and his dutiful wife Shobhana often tries to hide his indescritions . The second son is in love with Lizzi a girl with a poor economic back ground . Initially this match is rejected by his parents . Mamooty in fact is drunk most of the time and wastes a lot of family fortune in silly projects. Slowly he redeems thanx to his wife and mother's patience and the match of his brother with Lizzi is accepted . She too moves in with them . A lot of family misunderstandings and misgivings soar up . Srividya bears all of them with her husband quitely helped on by their family priest - Thilakan . The brothers squabble among themselves and part for some time . In the end Srividya dies due to stress and tensions and the entire family unites. Lizzi and Shobhana are very slim and wear simple cotton sarees to show their domestic status . Srividya wears a lot of jewellery to show off her rich matriarch status . A fine movie overall.
