Police arrest and convict his stripper fiancé Mechele Hughes and his roommate John Carlin due to a letter Kent wrote saying that, if he was murdered, they were responsible.

48 Hours updates their story on the 1996 murder of Kent Leppink near Hope, Alaska. Police originally convicted Mechele Hughes and John Carlin of the crime, but Carlin was killed prior to his appeal. With his case thrown out, Mechele Hughes has been released on bail pending a retrial.
