A poorly made movie with a lot of heart, Lowrider Weekend (the title as I found it) delivers what it promises and absolutely no more. The music is infectious but the movie is so bad it is funny. I'd buy the sound track if there were one. But honestly, one has to wonder why this DVD made the purchasing cut at the local video store.

Warning: Spoilers
I had the opportunity to be on the set of this movie as it was being made. The acting appeared to be "over the top", and I really wondered what was finally going to come of this movie. After seeing the movie, may answer is "not much". This was supposed to be a movie about a Low Rider Car Show and one characters desperate need to make money. There were Ninjas in this movie. NINJA'S. This movie fails in just about all categories: writing, directing, editing. The acting was not great, BUT the script was so bad it's hard to blame the actors. Anyhow, if you want to see a good movie about the Lowrider culture, DON'T rent this movie. If you consider yourself to be a potential film maker by all means watch this movie. It'll make you realize that even the "Pro's" can stink it up sometimes.
Just my 2 cent.

Come on, it is not that bad. Tammy gave it to me as a birthday gift, since she knows how much i love fast cars (and fast women, LOL).
If you liked "No Country for Old Men", you'll see that there are some parallel issues. A group of men drink and enjoy cars, and some cholos show up.
It reminded me also of Tobacco Road, and Laura the Explorer. This one is a must for fans of Rosie Perez.
I could have used some more character development and some more girls in the nude, but over all, i give this one a 6.
I shall repeat lines now, because i don't have enough.

Great if you like cars, but keep the fast forward button handy.

This is a great movie that gives a great, but small, insight into the lowrider culture. The movie has a good plot, but the viewer can get tired of the constant phone calls that Sonney takes. The cars are really cool, and the acting sometimes make you laugh.
