A good sequel to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
Rautus13 February 2007
Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblvion is quite good, the game lets you choose from two Turok's experiencing a different side of the story. The graphics are not as good as Turok 2 and are more blocky but that isn't a problem, the weapons are more high tech, the enemies are aliens and creatures with only a few dinosaurs.

The levels are shorter than Turok 2 and that's a good thing, you don't spend ages on a level searching for items but instead proceed to other levels more easier and this makes the game less dull because you're not stuck on the same environment. Turok 3 is a great shoot-em-up that should be played.

Part III is to date (Expect Part V soon) my Personal Favorite of the Game Series. Very Good Special Effects and a much more developed Story Line. What can I say? I just plain out like the Game. Rent it, I Hope think and hope you will not be disappointed.

The Groundwork for One of the Greatest Games of All Time

Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion is my favorite of all the Turok games (thus far). The third one continues to build up from the previous two.

The first one, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, had very little story, very blocky models, tons of fog, horrid controls, but good ideas.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil fixed the control problems (better jumping), gave a story with some simple cut scenes, had great graphics and sound, added multiplayer and more. Really suffered because it came out the same time as The Legend of Zelda: Orcania of Time.

Turok Rage Wars brought a new flavor to the table and was a fun game.

But 3 is where it all came together. Now we get a full story with dramatic cut scenes and twists, we get less fog, but a bit of a step back from 2, we get a different story and gameplay experience depending on who we choose and we get more multiplayer. The sound is very moody much like the other Turok games and sound effects (done by a vegetarian, no meats used) sound gooey and I still get chills hear the raptor's calls. And this game has voices in the cutscenes!

Admittedly, the Raptors in 2 are sooooooo much cooler then 3's, but 3's more linear level design is much more convenient then 1 or 2's. In 3 you get a clear idea where you're going and why instead of jumping into random portals. The flow of Turok 3 is easily comparable to Metroid Prime for the GameCube, where some of the team who worked on Turok 3 went after Acclaim went belly up. Who knows, maybe Turok 4 could have been Metroid Prime.

Gameplay: 8/10 - An improvement over 2. Graphics 8/10 - Nice and moody looking environments, little blocky. Sound: 9/10 - Chilling and moody. Controls: 8/10 - No action button because everything is done for you! Multiplayer: 7/10 - Not really a party game, but still fun. Raptors only monkey tag battles are fun! Replay: 8/10 - 2 story lines and multiplayer will have you coming back.

Overall: 8.5/10 - Rounded up 9/10.

If you liked this game then you'll love Metroid Prime.

A big disappointment.

Turok 2 left off for a great third installment - based solely on the Oblivion, possibly the best enemy created for a computer game. Their look and idea threatening from the outset, and featuring in the hardest sections of Turok 2 - already a hard game, set this third one up to be an extremely hard but very enjoyable experience. However the game is overall a bit of a let down. The plot is very interesting - but bears little to the Oblivion we saw in the previous game - in fact Oblivion only features in a small section of it and we only see one type of the diverse range of Oblivion monster we saw previously. The music has also suffered, becoming more atmospheric and dull in comparison to the Orchestral might of T2. The game was overall much easier than the previous, and the graphics were a backwards step, becoming blocky and blurry. Overall Turok 3 is a good game but unfortunately not as good as the Second.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion!
Movie Nuttball11 October 2004
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is one of most exciting shoot em up video games on the N64! The characters, the action, and the sure thrill of adventure makes this game a fun non-stop playing time! Below is a brief look how I think the game is!

Game Play: The game play is very good. There is really basic controls here and is easy to perform. Novice gamers should have a good time here!

Graphics: The graphics are wonderful. The backgrounds are really beautiful!

Difficulty: The game is easy but as it goes on you find out that it will become more difficult!

Music: The music is great! Just fantastic catchy tunes through out the game! In My opinion its some of the best music ever in a video game!

Sound: The sound is great. Nuff said!

Overall: I loved Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion! If you like excellent adventure shooting games then I strongly recommend you play this game!

Where are the dinosaurs?
danawoj31 March 2002
In this game there were barely any dinosaurs, just a bunch of E.T. looking aliens and 1 eyed mindless genetically altered Arnold Schwarzenegger animals with big teeth, claws and armors carrying bazookas and lasers running around the streets. There is police running around "trying" to protect the city but all they do is let zombies and aliens walk by but shoot you if you get close. The only dinosaurs i saw in this game were about 4 raptors. The only good things in the game were the graphics and weapons and the fact that the turoks actually talk to each other.
