Love and Rockets were one of the best psychedelic new wavers of their day. Powerhouse riffs and terrific, viscid songwriting propelled them to popularity after their origin band Bauhaus departed with lead singer Peter Murphy. Taking over as frontman, Daniel Ash's vivacious, Gothic voice complemented the band's secretly dark songs.

And then there were videos. "The Haunted Fishtank" is a most excellent compilation of L&R's best music videos. The video is structured around comically bizarre, purposefully campy images which give it an authentic new wave feel. It starts out with the stomping "Ball of Confusion" and never lets up. Other highlights include the infectious "All in My Mind": a completely ingenious video using hypnotic, spinning camera work and inspired visuals; "No New Tale to Tell" lets the image break down, (as Gary Numan once wrote) and the song puts the energy of the video into play perfectly.

Its too bad there weren't more video compilations like L&R's "Hanted Fish Tank". Its the perfect music experience, listening to your favorite songs while following an entertaining visual medium simultaneously. Its not the first video to do this, but it's one of the best.
