Sex & Nudity

  • None explicit. There is an implied romance between Link and Marin, but nothing is overtly mentioned or undertaken.
  • Minor instances of implied nudity in the original Japanese version, but these were removed for international audiences, and even then, they are tame.

Violence & Gore

  • Link battles various monsters with a sword and other weapons of combat. Monsters explode upon being killed. Link drops dead upon losing all his life.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Tarin turns into a raccoon upon biting into a Magic Mushroom. Upon being freed from the transformation, he believes it all to be a dream, an allusion to a hallucination.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Link is reminded many times throughout the game that if the Wind Fish awakens, Koholint Island will disappear with Link on it.
  • The Final Nightmare boss is a large, black entity that takes on different monstrous forms the more Link fights him.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • At the end of the game, when Link awakens the Wind Fish, several scenes of Koholint Island are seen evaporating into nothingness, including the people who live there. Marin and Tarin disappearing are the last to be seen. This is seen as one of the saddest endings in the Zelda franchise and may be hard for some gamers to watch.
