One of the best arcade games I have ever played
Catherine_Grace_Zeh22 July 2007
THE SIMPSONS, in my opinion, is one of the best arcade games I have ever played. Even though I haven't played any arcade game for very long, I enjoy it very much. In addition, even though I've never made it to the last level, I enjoy the game very much as well, even though I've never owned the game. However, when and if this game is made available for download on the Nintendo Wii, this is one game that's definitely going to be on my list. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that the people at Sega Genesis know how to keep video game fanatics entertained. Now, in conclusion, if you're a video game fanatic, this is definitely one you'll want to play and own.

Fun Simpsons Video Game

Rated E(Contains Violence)

The Simpsons was an arcade video game released in 1991.I played the game at the Marine Land arcade when I went a year ago.The Simpsons game is a very fun arcade beat em up and any fighting game fan or simpsons fan should play this game. The plot is pretty interesting as well.Mr.Smithers has kidnapped Maggie so now its up to Homer,Marge,Bart and Lisa to save her. Each character uses different weapons and you go almost everywhere in Springfield to battle. The Simpsons is a great video game with good fun gameplay and average graphics for 1991.I recommend the game to any Simpsons or fighting fan.

Very fond memories of this classic side-scrolling crazy beat em up and what is possibly the one good Simpsons game!

Warning: Spoilers
I actually only ever played this hectic old style beat em up a handful of times years ago when we'd all go for day trips to a seaside amusement park place in the summer and I always made sure to seek out that had it while I was there, until it was gone one year.. Anyway I remember loving it, it was an amazingly fun little blast to play for a young fan of the show, the colourful familiar faces and locations and even a little of the original voice actors made it really feel a lot like the world of The Simpsons. Looking into it now I see that the little courtesy 'story' of the game is completely nonsensical to the nature of the series, which at that point was about midway into its second season and had yet to really hit its stride and wonderful golden age. Also the characters in the few cut scenes look slightly off model - then again, everyone looked off model in those earliest seasons! I also remember the game being rather difficult to get very far into when playing it solo without dying..but it was so addictive that you just wanted to start right over again and do better. I remember that you could choose between Homer Bart Lisa and Marge and that they each had their own styles of brawling, I tended to mainly play Marge because the way she furiously brandished her vacuum cleaner was good for vanquishing the endless hordes of goons! I would have so loved to have had a port of the game on my SNES as a kid. People may laugh at it for how it looks now and I've seen playthroughs and yeah it does show its age but you shouldn't judge an old game by today's standards, but should try to appreciate it for what it was. I think it still looks fun to play and deserved to be remembered as an arcade gem of its era. Simpsons game magic at its sweet classic zaniest! X

A great arcade game starring the Simpsons!!!

Back in the day when I'd go to a Pizza Hut, or a Chuck E. Cheese's I'd always see this game. I only played it once or twice but now that I have an Arcade game emulator, I've every opportunity to play this game, and if you haven't, I suggest you do!

In the game Maggie is kidnapped by Smithers (who has a diamond that Maggie is sucking literally!), and the Simpsons clan has to save her!, You can play as either Homer(who uses his fists), Marge(vacuum cleaner), Bart(skateboard), or Lisa(jump rope) as you wander through 6 levels of beat em up action. Can you save Maggie from the hands of Smithers?

Overall, this game is excellent, and it is similar to the TMNT arcade game that was made several years before(Konami made that game, and they also made this game too). If your in an arcade, and see this game, I suggest you try it. It's worth the quarters, or if you have an emulator, then play it on that. It won't cost you a penny(Bless the gods of emulation)! 10/10.

AMAZING!

This is probably the best arcade experience I ever had in my life. I'm so glad I was able to get a few group plays in at my local arcade before they shut down in the mid-2000s. A few years later I would be able to relive the experience on XBOX Live Arcade with their port -- which was awesome! It included online co-op and perfectly captured the arcade experience once again.

25cents

Wow, the great memories of coin games and when Simpsons was relevant. 90s were great times to be ignorant. Nevertheless...

Here we go...

The Simpsons arcade game. I remember laying this game at our crummy Flea Market. I didn't get far because I was broke and had to waste my money for church offering. What is god gonna do with 25cents???

The Simpsons arcade game was a fun game during its time. Now it looks like filth. I mean, during that time I loved the Simpsons. I watched it every week 5/6 days of the week. The game was state of the art back in those days.

Graphics: for its time was nice.

Gameplay: Was repetitive of hitting NPC's. That's all you did. They had a boss but all you did was hit the NPC.

Development: It was a closed ended game.

Characters: Lastly, it featured tons of your favourite Springfield residents.

Overall, a good game for its time. Although today the game looks really ugly and "cringe" (excuse my language.)
