Well Done Rolf!
de_niro_200117 September 2005
Rolf on Art is a programme that brightens up dreary Sunday afternoons. Other programmes on art tend to be a bit too stuffy and intellectual and discourage people from becoming interested in a very worthwhile subject but Rolf talks about the subject in a manner that anyone aged from under 9 to over 90 can understand. It's no wonder Clive Anderson once called him "the best Blue Peter presenter they never had". He de-highbrowises culture. The art experts who appear on the programme also explain things in a very clear and entertaining manner. There have been a couple of live specials where Rolf has had a large team of artists painting giant mosaic pictures of The Haywain and the Mona Lisa. There have been a few celebrities among these artists in this special programmes and Jane Seymour has been in both specials. She makes a very glamorous co-presenter for Rolf. I am pretty sure Rolf on Art has brought about an increase in people visiting art galleries.
