Noon Blue Apples
TailoredMix6 August 2005
I've seen this film and found it interesting...I certainly didn't have the feeling of wanting to walk out on it. I was drawn to it because the creators gave it good hype with energy and delivered. Having George Takei was a bonus (I do not look to see who is in an independent prior to viewing).

Storywise, it was well done...but perhaps not my favorite genre.

Visually (lighting, color used to give matching texture), it was very good.

My only complaint was the music was overbearing--too loud and metal sounding. It may have been the equipment being used. But if it was intended to be that way (I meant to ask him (the director))...Personally, I'd like to keep my hearing abilities as long as possible.

I would hope to see more from this artist.

Feeling the blue( s apples)

The movie is quite nicely done. Showing off how people can be drawn to believe stuff that ... well if you actually thought about them, you should realize make no sense. In the current time even more relevant, though it lacks that final punch, that final sting to actually engage you even more.

It is not the main actress who is at fault for this. Maybe it is a bit of what is going on right now, the missing of something that grips one possibly is rather something that should have been adressed in the script. Which overall is fine, with building quite the tension. So decent effort and interesting ideas - maybe worth a look for some

What a bunch of garbage
fdt-0781329 November 2022
I had high hopes for this movie but those were dashed within minutes. Still I persevered against my own better judgement.

The "plot" could at best be described as jack of all trades, master of none. It's as if the creators tried to construct a grand unified theory of all the conspiracy theories out there, but all their efforts not only led to a dead-end, but to a dead-end terminating in a brick wall more substantial than the pyramids naturally featuring in a movie such as this - and oh boy, how hard and awful was the way they crashed into this brick wall. In the end it is just a senseless and incoherent lot of garbage.

The acting (or rather lack thereof) does nothing to improve matters. The main character especially comes across as stoic, distant, and unnatural.

I can think of far more pleasant things I could have done rather than watch this rubbish - such as blowing my leg off with a shotgun.

Made to 18:07, I have no idea how.

Lets just say, I read a LOT and I am old. I have zero idea what this mess was trying to accomplish. Lets pretend she is Alice trying to go down the rabit hole, while coming across as a person with the IQ of Tweety Bird. Loud music in an attempt to prove "oh, we are so with it"; talk in a book store (of all places) with three other geniuses, who majored in college as ..., forget that. I don't believe any went pass junior high. Would I recommend this movie? Yeah, sure. LOL Only if you are into babble.

the truth ain't here
zimbean-44 April 2004
Saw this at the Phoenix Film Festival .. it's essentially a college short gone horribly wrong and running far too long. Though the research into conspiracy theory here is admirable, the film's endless monologues do nothing more than say, "Look at all the research I did!" Nary a character has a motivation--save for the protagonist, whose only goal (aside from writing a term paper) is to listen to strange people rant and say spookily, "Are you ready for this?" Clearly the writer/director was aiming for something akin to Fincher's "The Game", but alas, unlike that film, there's no coherency to all the pontification and creepy side-glances in this mess, no method to support the madness. The truth is out there, but it ain't here.

Unwatchably bad

Overlong, meaningless prattle. Overlong meaningless prattle that celebrates being overlong meaningless prattle, the worst possible kind.

Leering and condescending. The director has nothing but contempt for people who take movies seriously; he's an ironic post-modernist who puts everything in quotes.

Thank God that this garbage never found distribution. It got made simply because his otherwise lovely and charismatic sister was Vice President in charge of Production of the Montel Williams show and could produce his movies for him. I haven't seen his subsequent "work", if this is any indication he probably should have tried to find a day job instead.

It's a sad state of things that independent American cinema is no longer an outlet for filmmakers who have something to say, but for spoiled little hipster brats who think they are beyond the need of expression.

Who are these jokers who have been leaving this volumptously positive comments anyway? Are they his mom, dad, friends and cousins or just more people who are afraid of real movies.

Scott Baio is the Anti-Christ...or is he?
elaborate_burn5 April 2004
I just saw this at the Phoenix Film Festival yesterday. It didn't win any awards and really isn't a traditional "award-winning" contender festival film. However, it ended up being by far my favorite film of the festival. The research and facts presented is among the most fascinating I've seen in literally any film I've ever seen. The story was incredibly suspensful and gripping. Very well-written script. Watching this film makes me angry b/c mainstream Hollywood is forcing dumbed down, moronic "horror" and "suspense" films down the masses' throats like it means anything while a truly scary and thought-provoking film such as this can't even get distribution. I would reccommend this over just about any horror or conspiracy film I've seen in the last ten years. This was also the first film that consciously delved into the "goth" underground scene that didn't have me in stitches laughing at the the film within a half an hour. If you have a chance to see this at any festival, I strongly urge you to see it, esp if you have literally any interest in the occult, conspiracy theories, biblical studies, or just a good suspensful film. This film has good acting, showy star cameos by Betty Buckley and George Takai that aren't irritating one bit, super editing, effective humor, a fascinating ending and a great script and direction to boot. Nothing disappointed me about. A complete refreshment from the feel-good mainstream hogwash that you usually see at festivals, and the terrible wannabe scary films that are sprinkled throughout. This is a film worthy of attention that probably won't get much. Would love to see a DVD release myself, at the very least. 9/10.

A well done, engaging story
maestro19847 March 2003
I just saw this at the Idaho International Film Festival. I loved the movie. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but came out very pleased. It did not take long to capture my interest in the characters and the story. The ideas in the film are thought provoking. The well placed humor adds a great deal to the film as well. A job well done!

Conspiracy, Conspiracy, Conspiracy
mrcnwmn-122 April 2004
I saw this a the Phoenix Film Festival

Very cool. I loved the subtle transformation of the main character from a sane student to a crazed conspiracy theorist. No, I didn't get all the dialog, but I feel it's not important to get and absorb every detail of every conspiracy in this film. The idea is that you can take your pick. All conspiracy's lead to the eventual conclusion that someone (the government?) is out to get you. You can take them all seriously, believe only what makes sense to you, or discard it all as one big joke.

Anyway, movies are never about what the character's think they're about. This film, though about conspiracys, is really about a womans fall from sanity. Take your pick as to why she falls. I don't think the writer/director even cares as to why. The story is in the way in which it happens.

There are moments of brilliance in this film as well as a few moments of bad acting in this film. Overall however, it is pretty cool. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed. it.

Deserved a full release at least
Channeleven22 April 2021
Noon Blue Apples is a slow burn. It starts off a bit boring but gets more insane as you go on, such is the way with conspiracies and their respective theorists. You'd get a lot of references to popular conspiracies, whether you're told about them or just happen to see imagery relating to one.

While not the best character deconstruction tale ever, it at least deserved a wider release. If you have the patience for slow burns, this movie is at least worth a watch.

Nice Spiraling Conspiracy Story
jstu95 April 2004
I saw this at the Phoenix Film Festival and was my personal favorite (of the ones I saw). The two leads (Lauren Fox and Thomas Jay Ryan) were memorably good in this to the point where I would start to look for other movies from those two actors.

The story revolves around Eris and her study of conspiracies from silly ones to ones that are more believable.

It took me a few minutes to get into the movie because the print wasn't the best, and the director said that the movie was in the process of being put on film, so i would like to see it again. But the story was quite mesmerizing in how Eris (Lauren Fox) studies these conspiracies, gets involved with these conspiracy theorists from this bookshop, and spirals downward almost into insanity as she starts to see these conspiracies and becomes paranoid in the process.
