John Carpenter’s 1978 “Halloween” stands as one of the best horror films ever made. Now after decades of not being involved in the franchise, the filmmaker, who will executive produce a new installment, has announced that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have joined the new production.
Carpenter shared the news on his Facebook page, adding that Green and McBride, part of the “Eastbound & Down” team, shared their vision for the movie and blew him away.
“David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team,” Carpenter announced. “David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed. David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…Wow. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it.

Mark Millar seems to live, just to subvert superhero tropes. Kick-Ass and Nemesis were both comic books that wanted to deconstruct the motivations of people who become superheroes and supervillains, depicting egotism and boredom as motivations alongside greed or altruism. Mph is sort of another book in this vein, with a person suddenly gaining access to super-speed. Guess what happens? Crime spree and, we can only assume a quest for revenge.
In 1986, the world’s first superhuman has a disastrous entrance on the world stage that ends with a high-speed crash into a mall. He’s apprehended and thirty years go by. In contemporary Detroit, Roscoe Rodriguez is sent by his boss, “Samurai Hal,” to sell twenty pounds of Cocaine and is arrested as part of a sting. He’s later told that his boss...

Sunday night, a trio of networks kicked off Bonnie & Clyde, a two-part miniseries that offers a fresh glimpse of the good-boy-gone-bad Clyde and the fame-obsessed, gun-toting Bonnie, two criminals who captivated America with their Depression-era crime spree.
Starring Into the Wild's Emile Hirsch and television newcomer Holliday Grainger, the Bonnie & Clyde revival continues Monday, airing simultaneously on A&E, Lifetime and the History Channel. If you missed part one, we've recapped all the pulpy, violent action:
Spoiler Alert: Bonnie and Clyde don’t make it out alive. We know this because the miniseries opens with a glimpse of their blood-spattered bodies.

This is seriously Smurfed up.
Proving that comics lead to juvenile deliquency, we have proof of the amazing things Smurfs will do to keep Smurfette in Smurfberries. And you thought Gargamel was in the wrong…
Four men dressed as Smurfs were arrested after attempting to steal a car and beating a man in Melbourne, Australia.
According to police reports, a 37-year-old man was walking out of a 7-Eleven just past midnight when he was approached by a man that looked like Papa Smurf, who asked for a cigarette. But the victim refused to light the cigarette before handing it over, and had to endure Papa Smurf’s wrath. He had also noticed that three other men, all similarly dressed as Smurfs, were attempting to simultaneously hotwire a car.
Australian police released the store’s surveillance video to find the four men responsible for the crimes. Three 19-year-olds and an 18-year-old...

Whenever depression looms for Joe Queenan, it's time to turn to Johnny Hallyday. What is it about the films of the French Elvis Presley that holds the answer to all life's woes?
The other day I was feeling unusually melancholy, what with the economy in the tank and construction workers building evil McMansions next to my house. One of my friends suggested I watch a Hong Kong gangster movie called Vengeance. He said the film was completely insane and would take my mind off my troubles. I told him all Hong Kong gangster movies were completely insane, but he fired back: "No – this one is really insane."
He was right.
Vengeance, released in 2009, is actually a Franco-Hong Kong collaboration that pools the resources of the legendary actor/director Johnnie To and those of the legendary rock star/actor Johnny Hallyday, the French Elvis Presley. Hallyday, né Jean-Philippe Smet, is in fact Belgian,...

In what will officially be the troubled actor's first post-public blowout project, Gibson is still searching for redemption after The Beaver failed to improve his damaged image to the majority of theater-goers. Sleight of Hand is directed by Brad Mirman (Crime Spree) and stars Mel Gibson, Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu, Giancarlo Giannini, Jon Lovitz, Johnny Hallyday, and Thomas Jane. The film begins shooting this July and is about bumbling burglars in Paris who inadvertently steal a rare gold coin belonging to a gangster. The Jodie Foster helmed project The Beaver did poorly in it's limited theatrical run despite a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. Mel Gibson has been absent from the spotlight since his threatening phone calls towards his ex were leaked to the press in...

After his early 2010 debacle, Mel Gibson is slowly getting back into the spotlight. His latest film, The Beaver, did poorly in limited release here in the Us, but received a standing ovation at Cannes. Jodie Foster blames its failure on American sensibilities. What I saw had the sensibilities of a Lifetime movie, but that is besides the point. Gibson seems to be back on his feet, at least in the sense of picking new films. He already has the action drama How I Spent My Summer Vacation in the can, but he has now found his first post-incident film to star in.
Variety reports he has joined the cast of Brad Mirman‘s heist comedy Sleight of Hand, which already has Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu, Giancarlo Giannini, Jon Lovitz, Johnny Hallyday, and Thomas Jane signed to star. Kiefer Sutherland has joined Sleight of Hand, a crime thriller about a heist which gets a gang of criminals in a whole lot of trouble. Although best known as a writer for films such as ‘Resurrection’ and ‘Crime Spree’, Brad Mirman will be directing, and the film follows what happens when a group of small-time criminals In Paris inadvertently gain possession of a rare gold coin that belongs to a notorious French gangster.
The cast also includes Gerard Depardieu, Thomas Jane, Til Schweiger, Jon Lovitz, Johnny Hallyday and Eric Cantona. The rights to the film will be sold at the impending Cannes Film Festival. Lars Von Trier’s film ‘Melancholia’ will also be making its debut at the festival, in which Sutherland also stars. So it will certainly be a busy festival for him.

Even if "Fable 3" doesn't include Kinect support at launch, it will have a King's ransom worth of Xbox Live Achievements to unlock, and you don't need to be intimately familiar with the series to understand why the list looks like a mash-up of "Fallout 3" and "The Sims" accomplishments. A little Ghostbusters humor may sneak up on you, however, but you'll understand why after you read the rundown below.
"The Ruler of Albion," "Coronation Chicken," "Dye Hippie, Dye" and "I Am The Keymaster" are all titles granted to achievements in "Fable 3," according to the game's new listing on Xbox360Achievements.org. You'll have to figure out how to pull all 50 of them off in both single and multiplayer modes in order to acquire the 1000 points available, but now that you know what they are, that shouldn't be a problem:
• The Guild Seal (10): Unleash your heroic potential.
• And So It Begins...

Jason Statham will play a homophobic sociopath...that you can root for! The star of the Crank movies is lining up Blitz, according to Crime Spree Cinema, an adaptation of the Ken Bruen novel of the same name.
Statham is headlining the cast as Brant, a cop on the trail of a serial killer targeting police officers in different precincts around London. Part of the tension comes from Brant's department being on the ropes for a variety of reasons and being flung into the heart of the serial killer case.

Big surprise, Jason Statham is doing another crime movie. Crime Spree Cinema claims Statham has agreed to join the cast of Blitz, an upcoming Lionsgate film. For a change Jason won.t be one of the crooks, he.ll just be a crooked cop. If the rumor is true, then he plays Detective Sergeant Brant, a policeman with control issues, illustrated by an assault on his shrink. He.s on the trail of a serial killer named .The Blitz., who targets cops. Statham.s character is described as .crude, un-pc, borderline sociopath. which sounds absolutely perfect for the Ex-Transporter. Paddy Considine is also supposed to be in the cast as a fellow police sergeant named Porter Nash. We.re checking for confirmation on Csc.s casting scoop, we.ll update this page with that as soon as we get it.

Martin Scorsese seems to be continuing his streak of crime-based stories with his two newest ventures, a movie about a mobster and a pilot show about underground booze dealing.
The film is the controversial life story of Johnny Martorano, a Boston-based mobster who confessed to the murders of twenty people. The hitman for the “Winter Hill Gang” served 12 years in prison and was released in 2007 after snitching on other gangsters and claiming the killings. The news that he sold his story has sparked a lot of talk in Beantown recently from retired police and other officials who say he’s profiting off the deaths of his victims.
According to the Boston Herald and their Hollywood insider, Scorsese met secretly with Martorano before having longtime collaborator Graham King lock down the rights to his story. They are also reporting William Monahan, who worked with the other two on The Departed, may write the screenplay.
