"The Tomb of the Wetback"

Warning: Spoilers
A very tragic story of a married couple, Toni & Irene, who happen to be illegal in the USA and get separated when immigration comes down on them while at work with the rest of the co-workers. It's later found out that their boss called the border patrol in order for not to pay these poor individuals.

In the role of 'Toni' is none other than super-mega Mexican superstar, Miguel Angel Rodriguez. He was well cast but really didn't have much to work with in this poorly done and scripted film. All he basically did, especially in the last half of the film was run away from the cops and FBI who were after him because he became entangled with a underground boss underplayed by the magnificent comedian Manuel "Flaco" Ibanez with the moniker of 'Candido Laponte.

Toni's wife is played by the always wonderful Rosenda Bernal(Billed here as Rozenda Bernal). She also had little to do but be sick and have a miscarriage. She does get to sing though. A nice song by the title "Sombras" A very well known song in the Latino community.

As Toni's friend 'Jorge', is played by none other than by the late Pedro Infante Jr., It was a supporting role but I believe he did okay with it. Again nothing really to do but be a background dressing per say. This handsome actor has tried so much and so hard to fill his famous father's shoes, the Mexican icon Pedro Infante, but lacks the charisma and star quality his father had in abundance. But still he should have just been himself and not try to imitate his father.

And last but least Humberto Luna as the sleazy but in the end good hearted bar/club owner who tries to seduce Irene and take advantage of her but then realizes she is really sick and decides to really help her. Humberto was in a way miscast but he is such a natural actor that what he did with the role was interesting.

All in all not a great film but it does deserve a viewing for the great cast involved.
