The obstacles that comes from the lack of proper communication
Rodrigo_Amaro23 June 2022
Lina Chamie's first short film "Eu Sei que Você Sabe" ("I Know That You Know") is a peculiar and humored view of people and how the lack of communicability can have dangerous consequences even in the quietest of moments. Here, a group of people are gathered on a country club trying to enjoy their time there while eating, talking or watching the race horses. One happy couple; two friends having deep yet random discussions; a mysterious guy who leaves a package on the table; and the anxious man who's trying to get the attention from the waiters who fail to notice his demands; and a lonely woman who keeps on flirting with this guy. Nothing works properly yet life moves ahead up until the breaking point when one of the characters performs a loud poem/plea about the misery of his life.

There's plenty of humor in the controlled chaos of such meeting, it feels a quite real experience and something tells me some of us actually have faced similar circumstances where you can sense things going wrong but everything pretends is all good. The human perception of things and events is a curious one.

Things aren't always what they appear on the surface and there's danger on the corner everywhere and even in the simplest of acts - quite unreasonable if you think deep about the film's story when something actually happens.

If the story doesn't seem to reach a critical point or a more poignant view of life, people and their idiosyncrasies, at least we have some pretty good acting from everyone involved specially Lineu Dias, Iara Jamra, Rodrigo Santiago and the eternal Bombril poster boy Carlos Moreno playing one of the dumb waiters. They're all funny in their own mode, each character with a certain peculiarity and they're all bringing special qualities to the project. I liked it a lot. 8/10.
