Set in the fictional country of Elyria, the film begins with a rather funny prologue describing the place. Then you see Charles Lawrence trying to kill himself, as he hates Elyria. But a policeman (Ray Collins) stops him--the man needs a government permit to kill himself LEGALLY. Then, after getting the permit, he's taken to suicide park--where he'll soon be put out of his misery. Once there, he notices that people just magically disappear--and it's over! He meets Thelma White--a pretty lady who wants to die because she can't get a good perm! Lawrence gets up to make a speech--trying to achieve, well, I have no idea. At this point, all the others begin yelling at him--which is probably how the audience in the theater felt. Then the two fall in love...for an instant.
This isn't a terrible idea for a short even if it is VERY dark. But, Lawrence was terrible--just terrible. Supposedly for laughs, he keeps making the sound 'durrr' throughout the film--I assume to show he was stupid. It was simply annoying and detracted seriously from an otherwise funny short.
