What a great irony
zzmale7 April 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: An adventurous American Woman.

This movie was a biography of American journalist Helen Snow, starting her journey in China during the pre-World War II era. This woman is a communist sympathizer and she traveled deep into the communist held area in China and reported what she saw. Audience should not be biased because of her political view because when the Chinese communists were indeed good guys back then.

The greatest irony is that after the revolution, when communists came to power, the ancient Roman cliche "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" was once again proved, and communists launched many political movements which resulted in disasters, it is just too bad that Ms. Helen Snow was not alive to see all of this.
