Police officer Benny is obsessed with American police cliches and livens up his own boring everyday life with dreams of duels with bad guys. But poor Benny and his colleagues doesn't have much to do in the small town of Högboträsk. Most of their days are spent drinking coffee, eating sausage waffles and chasing down stray cows. Peace and quiet is the dream of every politician, but for the Swedish authorities, the lack of crooks is reason to close the local police station. When the cops investigate a suspected act of vandalism, they realise that they themselves may be able to raise the crime statistics high enough to stay in business.Written by
The actors had to learn how to fire a gun at the Swedish Police Academy before filming began. See more »
The call signal sounds from their radios are wrong. The Swedish Police and Rescue services use two different radio systems (when the film was made. They are now changing to a TETRA system). The S80 is only used by the Police in the three biggest cities. The S70 is used by everyone, (Police, Rescue, SAR, Mil etc) everywhere else. Since the film is "far from everything" they should use the S70 system but the sounds are from a S80 system. See more »

When one thinks about Northern European cinema you think about frozen landscapes, desert towns, drama, Bergman, Liv Ullman, Von trier... You wouldn't relate Sweden or Denmark to the crazy comedy, but that's what you're gonna find in "Kopps": a small town and four cops whose jobs are at risk (no crime = no need of cops). Now, what are they gonna do? Can you figure it out? Well, if you can't just give "Kopps" a chance.
OK, it's not one of the best movies ever, but it's much more funny than most of nowadays Hollywood comedies. It's full of hilarious situations and crazy characters (the police dog is a Chihuahua!!).
