no light at the end of the tunnel

Warning: Spoilers
There are countless films about people going blind and the general tropes involved are standard. Will the operation work? Will her husband still love her? Will she be able to rebuild her life? This is a film where nearly all the answers are in the negative and must be one of the bleakest films on the subject. Although the Chilean Migliar's acting always leaves something to be desired, it is not too important here and this is one of best Dutch films of the period, certainly one of the best I have seen by Binger - the 1917 Het Geheim van Delft is also good - and has a particularly fine performance by Annie Bos.
