The story was true, but one cannot help to think that it is a political propaganda considering the time this movie was made: it was in 1985, when the Chinese women's national volleyball team won the world champion for the second time, and like in the first time, the hardest opponent was USA. This film is the Chinese version of Jean-Claude Van Damme's Kickboxer (1989)
