WARNING! This movie may not be suitable for poultry. =0) LOL I watched this movie at the 2004 Nashville Film Festival.

It was cute. Coley McCabe did a great job in her debut film! What really stood out to me was the music in the film. The songs were written AND performed by the lead actors Mark and Coley.

Quite impressive! Two thumbs up. Check it out.

Roper And Goodie

This is meant to be a romantic comedy of sorts, leaving aside the fact that in real life, kidnapping is no laughing matter. Although it is entirely different, it has a broadly similar theme to the 1986 Bette Midler film "Ruthless People" in which a woman is kidnapped and held to ransom only for the kidnappers to realise her husband doesn't want her back.

Here, there is only the one kidnapper, and ruthless is not in his lexicon. He is three months behind with his rent and...desperate people do desperate things.

Leaving that aside, there isn't much of a plot but the film is rescued from total mediocrity by a half-decent soundtrack.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not really sure that I saw the same movie as the other reviewers. I thought that the acting was horribly wooden and the story contrived. The socialite friend characters were annoying. Please save your time and don't watch this movie. I wasted an hour and a half on this, and I regret it.

I was incredibly bothered by the obvious gaffes in the film making. The inside of the shack they stayed in was at least twice as large as the exterior shots. There were a lot of holes in the story, and it bugged me that they resorted to a narrator to tell so much of the story. Once again, unless you are a fan of the country singers involved, save your time and brain cells and don't watch this movie!

Sub-average children's film

Warning: Spoilers
The plot (and subsequent direction) for Alabama Love Story conveys a sense of immaturity and I can only guess it was produced with an early teenage (probably female) audience in mind. Well, I hope so because if it was intended as an adult film the plot and acting was well below standard. As one reviewer pointed out there is no gratuitous sex or violence however I am somewhat baffled by the scene where Goodie rips a live chicken in half by it's legs in order to use the talon to open the snake bite on Roper. Although you don't see the actual ripping of the chicken it is pretty obvious what she has done. Not kiddie material at all. Also baffling that the producers chose to show a method for treating snake bites (cut and suck) that has been discarded for decades. Goodie could have easily applied a pressure bandage using a piece of clothing instead of tearing a poor chicken in half and using its excrement covered talon to rip (I won't say cut since chicken talons are not that sharp) Roper's cut and induce septicemia at the same time. Just an indication that the producers didn't bother researching the plot and didn't give a stuff if children learn outdated and dangerous first aid for snake bites.

Not Good

Warning: Spoilers
The positive reviews for this movie are clearly people who work for the film. It's really bad. Fake accents.

Horrible acting. Boring predictable story. Don't bother. Plot:

A broken down ex-rodeo cowboy, Roper, is down on his luck.

He has three weeks to pay three months rent when he reads about the couple of the year in the newspaper, and decides to kidnap the wife, Goodwina for ransom.

Goodie is the sweetest country girl ever, and she married a country boy, only to have him change into a city politician who is sleeping with his assistant.

He mocks her for her country ways. After Roper kidnaps Goodie, They initially hate each other (understandably so), but when Roper calls in for a ransom and her husband tells him that he doesn't want her back, the two have to figure out what to do next, and they fall in love.

Goodie finds that she is more comfortable and happy in the country, and she helps Roper find his self esteem.

In the end, they run off together, ruining her husband's plans to run for Senate, and taking half of their money, since it was in her name.

It's a very warm and fun movie. There's no buildings blowing up or AK-47s ripping through flesh, but there is a little blood.from a rose bush cut, and an adulterous affair that spices up the plot. As far as the acting goes, Coley and Mark do well, Mark better than Coley because of experience I'm sure. Although her first jab at acting is rather refreshing. It's not Oscar award winning, but it is for the most part truthful which is what film acting should be about even in semi-slap-stick comedy. Both (Mark & Coley) have some fantastic moments together as well as with other characters. I say similar tributes to the Tyler/Hess pair. Hess is obvious a stage actor that he uses.sometimes in excess.to fuel his character and does quite well. Tyler is, of course, beautiful and very intriguing.great sexy appeal and comedic timing. Both are a real plus.even though they are unknown.my praises to the casting of the pair. Stewart and Warner are the perfect racially mixed high society gals of the ball and lead the way to a great many laughs. Over all a good film.not great, just good! P.F.

A cute,entertaining,refreshing,worth seeing movie.

This was a cute movie. I found it very entertaining and was really impressed with the acting. The lead characters were believable in their roles. I haven't said that about very many movies lately. I think the new title fits the movie better than the original title. It was, after all, a 'love' story. The songs, written and sung, by the two main characters fit the plot very well. They added to the story by telling the inner thoughts of those characters as they moved through the details of their actions. It was very refreshing to watch a movie that was not clouded over with the gratuitous sex and violence that seems to be so prevalent these days. We bought the DVD.

one of my favorite movies

Alabama Love Story had just the right mix of romance, comedy and drama. All the actors did a great job of contributing to the success of the movie - especially in the two leading roles. It's very refreshing to see new faces on the screen.

The music added just the right touch and gave a glimpse of the characters emotions and thoughts. It was a nice surprise to find that the stars both wrote and performed the songs and shows they have a lot of talent besides acting.

I bought the CD several months ago and have watched it several times already. I can't really compare this to any other movies I have seen as it has several unique elements. However it gives me the same warm, happy feeling I get after watching While You Were Sleeping, Mrs. Winterbourne and The Truth About Cats and Dogs.
