Probably not as good as I remember.

I'll give it an 8. Some memorable moments, but if I watched it, it would probably not stand up to memory. I don't remember many of the actors except John Paragon as Ramon Estaca. John, of course, was notable as Jambi from Pee Wee's playhouse. I remember there was one parody of Tina Turner called Tina Turn-On and she would do a weather report and say how things were "hot" like Tina sings in Better Be Good to Me. It's a shame things like this will never be released on DVD.

Does anyone remember this?

I was pretty young when I watched this show - around 10 or 11. I remember them making fun of music videos, and I remember they had segments where they dressed up as the Smurfs. One skit I remember was to the song "Our House" with the line: "Our house, in the middle of our street..." The skit was the Smurfs living in their little mushroom house. The house was in the middle of a busy street and kept getting knocked around by traffic. The Smurfs inside were getting thrown all around. I think in the end the house was flattened by a truck.

I also remember a skit to "Hot Child in the City" where a fat kid was just sitting on a stoop sweating buckets. I seem to remember a skit to "Safety Dance" involving construction workers on a high rise building.

At age 10, I thought this show was funny. Hard to say what I'd think 20 years later.

Oh, I remember looking forward to Friday nights...SPOILER ONLY BY A VIDEO DESCRIPTION

Warning: Spoilers
Way back when.....I was around 19 or 20 and remember coming in from dates with my first husband when we were still engaged and "datin' up a storm" haha. I enjoyed my time with him, but I couldn't wait to come home, I would get settled in for bed and right about then, FTV would come on. I loved that show, but more importantly, I LOVED(or as the young ones say now, "was crushing on")its host, Mr. Don Felder. Hey....always loved those older ones-my hubby now is the same exact age as he is! :) Anyhow, I remembered his name from the Eagles, but couldn't believe how different he looked-mainly due to the change from the long hair in his "rocking" days, to the clean cut image he had then. It was just a different and very entertaining program, and I got the biggest kick out of their "video spoofs". Some of them were absolutely hilarious. I especially remember one for the DeBarge(or El Debarge-most of theirs sounded the same anyway:) song, "Who's Holding Donna Now?". Madonna was the main topic of "their" version and it was just funny at the time.

So, in closing....I wish they would re-run this show sometime. Not only because I felt like it was a VERY under-rated show(lots of my friends had never even heard of it), but it was fun and would take me back to a very pleasant and simple time in my life.....no matter HOW much some people want to rag on the 80's. I think it was a great decade and FTV was a fine part of that.

Funny how these memories come back!

Warning: Spoilers
I was 14 when FTV aired. My family only had "basic basic" cable with no MTV, so FTV and NBC's Friday Night Videos were the closest things I had to a music video channel.

I loved the impressions Mark McCollum did, including Popeye and Elmer Fudd. He had Elmer singing "I Got You Babe" with someone else impersonating Cher. (I think he also did Elmer's voice as "Ozzy Fudd" on the song "Kill The Wabbit.") I also remembered the "Soul Truck" and the surfer dude with long blond hair who sometimes opened the show by saying "Hey, dudes, what time is it? It's time for F...T...Veeeeeee!" Channel 2 in Denver used to air FTV and "Comedy Break with Mack & Jamie." I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers these shows!

Where can I find this?

I remember watching FTV on Saturday mornings. I think my favorite character was Ramone with the big pompadour hair.

One of my favorite skits was Mark McCollum as John Denver singing "Sunshine on my Shoulder". Well when they pull the camera back, sunshine is on his shoulder: it's the heavyset guy in a sun suit sitting on his shoulder!

Loved it. They would interpret the songs exactly how they sound.

You know videos rarely went with the storyline of the song. Is it possible to find clips or even DVD's of this great show?

Why does a comment have to be 10 lines long? That's stupid.

FTV Vague Memories
OX_Bigly29 October 2014
I seem to remember Buzz Belmondo (more well know from Out Of This World) hosting this show even though neither this page or Buzz's page mention it.

I also only remember two sketches/videos: "Rockin Robin". Where Robin and Batman where beating up bad guys. Then Robin started beating up Batman. I remember it was done in the style of the 60s Adam West show, as the was on in reruns at the time.

The other bit I remember was ZZ Top's song "Legs". There where two or three models with long ZZ Top like beards on their legs. After the song it cut back to Buzz who pulled a clump of hair off his chest and threw it off stage saying "Hey ZZ Girls, you got a bald spot!"

I'd Love to find some clips (or full episodes) somewhere so I could rewatch it.
