Viciously funny

This is a New York movie, not a watered-down, sappy, Hollywood pile of drivel. It's dark and crazy, while it sparkles with childish color and zeal. A deeply sarcastic satire of network TV, spotlighting children's TV, it is comedic genius. Fans of Seinfeld,Fight Club, Edward Scissorshands, and Toys will love it. You non-fans will probably hate it. Let's get that clear from the beginning.

Smoochy is a Barney-type character, with a lovable aging hippie under the costume. He's recruited to fill the time slot of Rainbow Randolph, who makes some serious career mistakes, and gets fired from the network. Edward Norton portrays the hippie with talent and energy. Somehow Smoochy becomes the target for homicide, and it's the hilarious, fast paced twists and turns that keep our attention riveted. Robin Williams shines as Randolph, and the entire movie is perfectly cast.

Rent the DVD and enjoy, but be prepared--they use the f-word liberally. It's not a kids show!
