Hilarious and enlightning

"Once Upon a Time in Tibet" presents veteran actor Osmar Prado as a traveler who goes to Tibet to encounter a monk (Antônio Fagundes) of whom he believes has plenty of important teachings to share and he wants to learn everything possible with this monk. The religious leader accepts the man, inviting him to stay in the monastery but with one condition: in order to reach some enlightnement and learn valuable spiritual lessons the man must say just two words each ten years he stays there.

Ten years go by and the man just use it to complain about the cold food, then cut to another ten years and his complain is about the bed; another ten years and surprise...nothing but pain but this time the monk will reveal to the man what he learned (or not) throughout all this years.

Limited in scope and running time but filled with imagination and wisdom, here's one hilarious, positive and relevant short film where two major Brazilian TV stars showcase their talents in minimalistic ways and they are very funny without doing much on screen.

What do we learn from here? Life is all about pain and endurance, if one can handle all that and see that only through suffering we can reach to other levels of evolution and transition. The poor man doesn't feel that way but still insists in learning and staying there as long as he can. The million dollar question thrown back at us: could we spend a decade in silence just so we can get there and only use two words? I kept wondering this through the whole film since I kept imaging what would this man learn in that time and use his loudest voice possible to just utter two words, and then he goes to waste the use for it. So unbelievable it's hilarious. A must-see! 10/10.
