The greatest soap opera in Chile
angelog-315 October 2006
This was one of the first soap operas made (written, filmed, and directed) in Chile. It became such a big success that both shopping and trading stopped at the time this soap opera aired. Raquel Argandona -famous Chilean TV personality and lately political figure- said that this soap opera paralyzed the country at the time it was on TV.

Worth of mentioning is to say that at the time this soap opera aired, there were no national productions of this magnitude and megasuccess on the Chilean TV.

Chile was a country that did not develop this type of production rather it was a consumer of foreign soap operas from Brazil, Venezuela and other Latin American countries in addition to American TV productions, but this particular show surpassed all expectations. It is also fair to say that it paved the way for the massive Chilean TV soap operas that are filmed both in the Chile and abroad for national TV. Arturo Moya Grau, writer and actor, was able to develop various other productions after the success of this soap opera. None of them with the same success.

This particular soap opera was based on a story that took place in Chile and the US. Most actors were Chilean (except for the main cast, both of whom were from Uruguay). Since then, both protagonists have settled in Chile and developed quite successful careers on TV and theater.

From this national production, many other soap operas have been developed and attempted the success this production had in Chile, and although some have been of great quality and quite successful, this one is for sure the most famous and successful of all soap operas filmed in Chile. It was a pop phenomenon in the country, and it will always be remembered dearly by all those of us who watched it faithfully.

This national production was re-aired years later, but with a mild success. The public gave it a warm welcome though. And despite the magic did not cast its spell on the Chilean public as the first time, it will always be remember as a classic soap opera and a great phenomenon of the 80s.
