Talent, that's the first thing I want to say, to be able to make so much in 1 year must take a lot of talent and dedication, and to make fun out of so much must take even more talent.

Look at other games like Half-Life 2, that game took Valve 6 years to make and it is a lot smaller than San Andreas, Valve might have some laid back lazy developers who take their time. I think Rockstar and Valve are about the same size of company and even though Valve made a new engine for Half-Life 2, you would expect it to take less than 6 years to be made, same is true for Doom 3.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is probably the biggest game ever made.

After Vice City and Liberty city you'd think they might run out of passion, ideas, or powers. I mean don't they get tired of making such a huge game every 2 years, Valve and id Software will probably not release a new game for the next 6 years and Rockstar releases such a big game every 2 years.

Apart from it being insanely great game and a lot of fun, this game is HUGE, I can't think of any game bigger than this when I write these lines, you have 3 big cities, connected by big country side and deserts with a lot of nice areas to find in the desert and the country side.

Other games of 2004 and 2005 like Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry Battlefield 2, are all big games, but none of them is as big is San Andreas.

And none of them allow you the amount of gameplay opportunities as San Andreas allows you to play, you can be everything you want, a cop, a medic, a firefighter, taxi driver, thief, pilot, pimp, train driver, construction worker, gambler, gangster, lover, valet. You can also change your hair, put tattoos, change your clothes, eat, exercise, and much more.

I salut to Rockstar for having such a great talent, skill, dedication, and nonstop art passion and motivation.

...It's an epic! "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" has to be the greatest video game ever made. I've been playing the game almost everyday since it dropped on October 26th and I'm still not even half way through it. That goes to show you just HOW MUCH thought and detail was put into its production.

While this "GTA" title is a massive improvement over the previous two, it doesn't just surpass them in terms of graphics and gameplay, it surpasses them by building on the many things that made them great in the first place, and then some.

I've been a massive fan and player of the "GTA" titles on the PS2 since the revolutionary "Grand Theft Auto III" was released in 2001 and its 1980s prequel/sequel "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," which dropped in the early fall of 2002.

"GTA: SA" puts a lot of its focus on Carl "C.J." Johnson, who returns to the city of San Andreas and the minute he steps off the plane, he runs into trouble. Trouble comes in the form of two corrupt cops who have him set up to take the fall in the murder of a police officer, and C.J. finds that his old neighborhood of Ganton is in shambles.

His mother has passed, many of his childhood friends are into gangbanging, and many of the families have since dissolved their relationships with one another. What follows is a statewide odyssey for C.J. that will take him out of his Ganton ghetto and into the flash and glitter of the casinos in Las Venturas a la Las Vegas.

From the get-go, you're entranced by a thoughtful storyline that has you doing a lot more than just missions so that you can earn "respect"; you become a significant part of the story, or more accurately, you become the story. Whereas the previous two titles had you doing things to further your position, not a whole lot of weight or thought was put into your motivations in those games.

It is true that this game was heavily influenced by the hip hop culture of the 90s, and many rap artists are prominently featured on the soundtrack, including Dr. Dre, Snoop [Doggy] Dogg, Public Enemy (Chuck D is the "Forth Right MC"), Big Daddy Kane, Eric B. & Rakim, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, 2Pac, and N.W.A. And also, references to many "'hood" movies from this time are in abundance, namely "South Central," "Menace II Society," and "Boyz N the Hood" (be on the lookout for a "Tre" look-alike wandering about).

Probably one of the Greatest Game Ever Made. Everything is perfect in this Game. The Storyline, the characters, Voice Acting, Gameplay, Graphics (for a PS2 Game). Phenomenal. Rockstar is the king of Video Games. No one comes closer!

I am writing this review in 2020 I am 26 years old I played this game when I was 12 I loved it Very 18+ as all rockstar games should be Cj is back in San andreas after his mother got killed unaware of the reason why I have played this game nearly half my life in 2006 got my ps2 slim spent hours on it I am older than the Gta series that was crescened in 1997 my old 90's generation was perfect for the game series I will play the game series till its 2087

And this is one of them. I want to start with its cons. The graphics wasn't really good at those time. Absolutely it was good but not very good for a GTA. But they have tried to make much much bigger map and they've done. Even now 15 years later this game is playable at mobile phones and with mods. This game is just evolving with its mods. Amazing, unique action game.

Best GTA ever in my opinion, I've played them all from GTA III to GTA V. San Andreas needs a proper remaster.

This is the best GTA game with the best mods. I love how they managed to fit three cities in one map at this time. Most of the missions are pretty good. I played this game since I was a little kid.

CJ is one of the best GTA characters! I actually liked this game better than GTA V.

Just picked up the PC version of this game recently. I've been waiting months.

I don't play video games so much anymore (I guess it's both an age thing and a time-thing) but I typically make a special effort to get the newest GTA games when they come out on PC. I own the last three (GTAIII, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas) and each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

I liked the hard, visceral edge of GTA III and, of course, the novelty -- it was the first of its kind. I loved the bright, "Scarface"/Mafia-edge of "Vice City," which spoofed a lot of famous movies. Also, the voice talents -- Ray Liotta and Burt Reynolds, to name but two -- were the best of any of the games so far.

GTA San Andreas is good because it has a lot of new additions. The AI of citizens is better. The city is larger, the graphics seem better (at least on PC), the free roam options are improved (you can jump up onto/over gates and houses, now), the radio stations are better and more diverse, etc.

At the same time it's got some problems. For starters, I prefer the style of Vice City's Miami Beach spin-off. San Andreas is essentially set in the early '90s gangsta hoods (what Vice was to "Scarface" this is to "Boyz in the Hood"), and at the risk of sounding racist, I'll merely say I do not think the city is as fun to look at or explore (in most ways). Vice City was great fun to just cruise around your car in, and the setting was really exotic. San Andreas is grungy, run-down and ugly, basically because it's a ghetto and I don't think anyone will deny ghettos are ugly. That's the point, obviously, but it doesn't change the fact that as a game, the settings aren't as nice to look at.

I don't like CJ, the main character, as much as Tommy Vercetti. Tommy was a bada$$: tough, cool, ruthless, savvy, stylish. CJ is a hoodlum, and your point in the game is to "gain respect" and rule your old turf and claim it back from the scum -- to be honest I just found CJ a step down from Tommy. Young Maylay has good vocal talents (he voices CJ) but I preferred Ray Liotta. No, it's not because I'm white. It's because I'm a fan of "GoodFellas." The bonuses are that the world is more explorable and the missions are better, more detailed cars, better radio stations, funner commercials, etc.

Axl Rose supplies the voice of DJ Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith, of K-DST. He's got a lot of good self-referential lines ("As I've said before, all you need's a little patience...") and his quips to callers are great. (One person calls in complaining that '80s rock is dead and he cusses him out.) I found that a nice touch, and rare, since Axl never seems to leave his house anymore. Also, it shows he has a nice sense of humor about himself.

The rest of the radio stations are classic - the commercials are hilarious, the songs are the best yet (I prefer rock music but those who like rap will love it too - it's got plenty).

Overall this is another great GTA game with its own pros and cons. I do overall prefer Vice City a bit just because I really loved where that game was set and everything about it. But then again my original review of Vice City I submitted to IMDb says I liked GTAIII better when I first started playing Vice City, so...

For some people I'm sure the content of this game will be a turn-off, especially the middle-class white Americans who played the previous two famous GTA games. This has much more foul language and is quite gritty.

I didn't like some of it merely because I was expecting better surroundings and I missed the character of Tommy. Hopefully he'll come back in one of the later games, even if it's just a cameo.

But it is a great game and I can't really spot any flaws that would indicate it's "worse" than the others. It's about on par, with some great improvements in graphics and AI in particular. Also, the sound is top-notch and the game seems more realistic. That's always cool.

This is without any doubt the best video vame I have ever played. The storyline is amazing, so are the characters and the map. It should have a remastered version for PS5 or a sequel. Truly astonishing and one of a kind, no other GTA game can surpass it. The gang wars add a whole other level to it, I still play it on my PS3 every now and then.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas?

I downloaded this off the Microsoft store however I have played it a very long time ago, but on the Sony PlayStation 2. If you have a gaming computer or just a computer with an efficient processor you can modify the PC version of this game until your heart is content.

So the distinctive thing about this title is that you have three cities to wage your crime spree through. A Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco) and a Las Ventura's (Las Vegas).

In between you have open green fields to tear through with your Sanchez trail bike. Or maybe take the passenger train between cities and be more civil.

A lot of easy achievements for this game providing you are playing on the Xbox 360 or any of the new consoles Xbox 360 and up.

Remember, this game was made in 2004 it is not going to meet up to the same experience as Grand Theft Auto V.

If you have played all of the games of this franchise or you want to begin playing these sandbox games and eventually play them all (GTA V, GTA Vice City, GTA IV etc... etc...) then start with this.

Another successful GTA game is here and it's great. What more can I say? From the Liberty City to the streets of Los Santos San Andreas, CJ must find out his mother's killer at the same time, bring the gang back together and bring the streets back to the Grove. Wow, they depicted California and the West Coast in the early 90s, and it was cool, no to mention the city that is supposed to be Las Vegas. Speaking of which, I was one of those who believed that this game was to be in las Vegas. Those old rumors regarding 'Sin City', hence the name, and it would mostly include gambling. But those rumors were just rumors. But hey, this game is just so hard boiled and great. There are new features, an eating system, where you have to keep your energy up, and at the same time making him full, and an exercise system, where you have to keep him buff, so he will develop strength, and so you can give people a hard punch. And now, you can develop driving skills too, and the weapons you use, the skill will also be upgraded too. And everything else from the previous GTA games are in it, the gameplay, the driving, it's here. Great. Marvelous. Keep it up Rockstar. Recommended for the fans of the games.

This is my imagination definition of a good GTA. GTA five on mobile please rockstar do it.

It was a lot bigger than Vice City. There were a lot more ins and outs, and it was fun playing the 90s Boys in the Hood life.

And of course there were additional features. I mean, let's face it, you could spend hours alone getting your character as fat as humanely possible and then working it off by riding a bike around town. It had more mini games, more weapons, but....

... it didn't exactly pop like Vice City did, did it? It wasn't as beautiful, it wasn't as hip.

It was still fun to play, it still had it's own killer charm, but.... compared to 80s Miami it was kind of a let down in some ways. The story was more compelling in a lot of ways, but it just wasn't as cool.

If you want a action crime game with good story, memorable characters, something to laugh at, and mess around with, this is your game. The GTA games after this are great, but this game touched the hearts of millions of PS2 fans when it first came out. Did it aged well? By gameplay standards, yes. By graphics, no. It made not be the best looking game, but it's highly playable.

S tier, 10/10. I played the PS3 version as I had heard it has check points. I know it is regarded as worse than the PS2 version as it has less atmospheric lighting but after playing GTA 4 I think that checkpoints are invaluable in GTA main missions. San Andreas is regarded as one of the best GTA games and open word games in general and despite not playing it in the preferred way I honestly agree with the praise it gets and think it is one of the best games ever made.

It do have several problems with the game, San Andreas, more than any other GTA game felt like such a long game to get through. Not in a bad way, just that it was an effort to play it and nothing else. I did have a break, playing other games instead but I did feel the length of the game allot, especially near the end.

There are a few objectively bad and dated aspects to the game in my opinion. The graphics are obviously dated, some characters look really blocky. The waypoint system doesn't have a guiding line so navigation is a bit more difficult. Cars stop really unrealistically, shooting is very dated and allot missions are unbeatable without using the lock on setting.

The positives easily outweigh these flaws however. The world of San Andreas Is honestly incredible. The detail put into each location is astounding. You can enter and interact will all kinds of shops, there are many side missions and activities to do that are nearly all fun, I don't really like the RC flying or dancing. The world is littered with interesting vehicles, items and weapons to pick up. I just had fun roaming around to see if I could find anything interesting. There is an experional selection of weapons in San Andreas and with my favorites being the chainsaw, katana, asualt rife and desert eagle.

The missions and story are smaller in scale than other GTA games but are more interesting to me personally. Mainly because of the incredible characters. CJ is probably my favorite GTA protagonist next to Niko. You have the iconic big Smoke, Sweet, Cesar, rider, theTruth, woosie the incredible James Woods as Michael Torino and amazing Danny Dyer as Kent Paul, who should have been in the game muuch more. You even have legendary actor Samuel L Jackson as Officer Tenpenny, my favorite villain out of any video game. There are so many other characters I'm sure I've forgotten, just such an incredible areay of interesting characters.

Despite it's flaws San Andreas is just so fun and the world is so detailed it is honestly worth playing at least once as it perfectly encaptures everything about the GTA games for me personally. A game that is worthy of all the praise it gets and worth playing at least once to see if you like it or not.

This game is so much fun, I much prefer this GTA game to GTA V. People who think GTA V is the best GTA game in the francise are to young to remember GTA San Andreas. This game is a true masterpiece with a brilliant story and amazing characters. There so much to do in this game, you can even go to the gym and lose weight, that's how realistic this game is, GTA V didn't have this feature. Also if CJ over eats he can die😂. I would highly recommend people to try this game out it's just amazing, not only are you in San Andreas but you can also go to San Francisco and Las Vegas. It's a big map with a lot of cool easter eggs and secrets. This game is definitely one of the best games of all time, good job Rockstar.

Typically, I have the PC version of the game, and let me tell you, it blew my mind away. The graphics, the music, the stunts, the gangs, even the side-splitting dialogs, it all blew me away.

This game is more like a movie than a game. The voice acting is realistic, and even the radio stations are more hilarious than the previous game (Vice City). What's more, we even have famous voices such as Samuel L. Jackson (Star Wars prequels - Mace Windu) who voices Officer Tenpenny, James Woods (The Specialist) who voices Mike Toreno, Ice T (Law and Order: SVU) who voices rapper Madd Dogg, and Chris Penn (Reservoir Dogs) who voices Officer Eddie Pulaski.

The game-play is superb. You can dress like Elvis or the Terminator for all we know. Hell, we can even become the Thin Man or Mr. Sumo if you watch your figure.

Our character, Carl, is voiced by newcomer Chiris Bellard a.k.a. Young Maylay, who does a marvelous job of voicing Carl (made me laugh when someone hits his car and he swears).

Overall, the best video game of 2005. And possibly the best so far. AWAITING NEXT GTA TO BE RELEASED, RUMORS THAT IT WILL FOLLOW A REAL CITY, LIKE CHICAGO.

When CJ(Young Maylay in his debut, enthusiastic but not always sticking around) returns to Los Santos(LA, with its huge population; Los Fierro is like San Francisco with its culturally rich streetscapes, and Las Venturas is like Las Vegas, full of bright signs and gambling – you can get into debt, and get whacked for not repaying!) for his mother's funeral(over the course of this, he'll learn who was involved), he finds his friends and family in disarray. He will have to prove himself to them, and aid them in re-establishing their old gang(fighting others for Turf, that also has to be protected; you can recruit individual ones, more as you gain more Respect, to follow you and add guns to your drive-by(!) or on-foot attack), The Grove Street Families, clashes with corrupt cops(including Jackson's aggressive Tenpenny) and gain enough power to protect him and his(thus a more personal and vast take on the usual plot of these, with the usual doublecrosses and twists along the way, as well as working against someone and then later for that same person).

As the others, this has a separate identity – still, this was the riskiest yet. Steeped in African-American ghetto flavor, with their criminal activities, slang, etc. and it's full immersion. Characters(strong ones regardless of gender, ethnicities – black, Asian, Native, etc., and mafias from several of them) are enjoyable and spot-on types. Zero(Cross, computer nerd), The Truth(Fonda, always stoned hippie), Mike(Woods, hardass high level crook), etc. Writing is inspired, whether you look at the relationships or parody/satire(hitting on every major American aspect of society – politics, view of foreigners, groups of people, etc.; other comedy includes silly company names/slogans and the like. Everyone will leave offended by something), etc.

This not only opens up the world even more(!) such as allowing vaulting and swimming(with a calm sea, fish, etc.), it greatly enhances what you can do other than the storyline(which took me no less than 33 and a half hours to complete, by itself). Sadly, a lot of it is forced upon, rather than evolving out of, the main engine, the mini-games come down to Quick-Time-Events without instant-failing for missing, and they lack refinement. On the plus side, there is a tremendous amount of customization. Clothes, tattoos, haircuts, weight and musculature(the latter two take time, like in real life!), you name it. This can be done on some cars as well, and you can even create a lowrider, and otherwise permanently alter something not merely visual on it – thus giving more of a reason to keep it in one piece, not only rare ones anymore.

Mission design is phenomenal. A lot of them are memorable, some are one-offs, there is carryover(something you do might take a long time, and you do it piecemeal over a number of them) and they feel distinct in spite of them being built around relatively few and simple parameters – the goal of killing/chasing/tailing/stealing etc., getting there with a specific set of wheels(which you may have to avoid breaking), and set in different areas. They require mastery of several skills, albeit also noting the correct path. There are frustrating ones, and the easier than usual(right up to water and, when not on foot, the occasionally passing trains and trams not killing you) difficulty remains uneven(Rockstar? Work on that. Everything else? Doing good. Keep it up).

Flying has not particularly been improved, and it is now required to do a bit(though it was also in VC, that was not the case in GTA3). You do have a School for it(along with other things), but this is merely a linear set of strict tests(newsflash: those do not teach, they merely serve to train us to complete them; they don't provide analysis of what went wrong or why, nor can you read the instructions in them outside of them, at your own pace), and you have to accomplish those before you really get to try your hand at piloting – and surprising no one, once you get to that, you pick it up much faster and improve. Some of this can be aided with a joystick, something you should not need for as low-simulation a title as this. This portion has made otherwise dedicated players quit.

Other than, in fact, in-between, the urban areas, this has mountains, rural towns and villages. This takes place in 1992, with events based partially on Bloods and Crips rivalry and crack epidemic. The cutscenes are pretty decent, with angles and cuts, and they can still nearly all be skipped. Graphics overall, however, have deteriorated in this, looking the worst this far in. They're washed out, and when it's dark and "tight"(such as an alley or tunnel), it gets downright straining. This has a 360 degree camera, albeit it moves annoyingly except when you're on foot(do not touch the mouse unless you have to when driving – it'll steer or adjust view), even requiring manual adjustment at times. The map has zoom, legend and you can place your own marker.

The 11 radio stations play rare groove, dub and reggae, New Jack Swing, Modern Soul, alternative rock, metal and grunge, gangsta rap, old school Chicago house music, funk, classic rock, country and classic hip hop. They also have different shows each with separate hosts: news, sports, gardening, travel, romance, conspiracies, and entertainment(with Lazlow!). The 12-18 tracks(per station) are held separately and mixed randomly, so it feels much more organic. Ads and announcements, such as weather and recent occurrences, will play between them. You can of course still add your own tunes. We get proper third person shooter mechanics, eliminating the remaining weakness of this franchise. Roll, crouch, strafe, aim, there's even a target health indicator. The many RPG elements are largely optional, outside of the brief tutorial segments. AI does have some issues.

There is constant coarse language, brutal bloody violence, and sexuality(no nudity) in this. I recommend this to any fan of the open-world genre. 8/10

This game is pretty good. I like causing havoc everywhere I go in the game. Also the missions can be challenging, but not too hard sometimes. I would prefer GTA V over this, but this one game still holds up to being a good game. Give this game a try if you haven't played it. It's definitely worth your time.

As a noob teen playing this game for a bit, it was fun. The hype was real.

Returning to it, the game well....it's overrated, empty and a time waste.

Let's start with the good before I go Punisher on this game.

Good: Story, acting, freedom

Bad: empty world, Not as fun as I remembered, Story again, overrrated.

The story was good for the most part. Although, some side stories and main stories were just boring and I lost interest. One moment CJ is a thug next mintue he's a boring buisness man, next minute he's dating an annoying hoodrat. I liked the police + CJ + Gang storyline. Other than that the other stories make this game drag.

The world feels so empty. Why is this game so popular? It felt like Minecraft. I mean, In 2021 if you put a ps3 version of SAGTA next to current Minecraft you wouldn't tell the difference. Looking at SAGTA graphics now, it looks like hash. It's unfair to judge outdated games graphics in 2021 still, the graphics don't look good. If I wanted to replay this game or any game and the graphics looked like Minecraft, I would not play it. The ability to free roam is what made this game enticing.

It was not as fun as I recalled. Just senseless driving, if you failed at a mission you'd have to drive real-time hours finding the mission destination. All you did on missions was drive and shoot people. I don't think you had a chance to kill dogs in this game. SAGTA is no GTA 4 or 5 by a long shot.

It's overrated. All on social media nerds are pleasing SAGTA, when it's not that good of a game. Sometimes nostalgia can be a curse. Nostalgia can keep people ignorant

I originally had this as a 10 but returning I don't understand why I liked this hash game so much. If you want a GTA game, play Liberty City stories, GTA4/5. GTA 5 does have issues, I can still play it and enjoy it.
