Fun indie horror

I got a chance to see a screening of this back in 2004 at the Cinema Wasteland expo in Cleveland. It is not very often that you get to have a conversation and drink a beer with one of the directors of a movie you are about to watch, while Gunnar Hansen is in the next room too.

This trilogy was pulled together by Gunnar Hansen's (original Leatherface) character, a doctor in a mental institution introducing each story. Each segment had it's own style unique to the director. If I remember correctly, the first story was more on the "art house" side of horror while the second segment was more of a "Tales From the Crypt" story. The third installment is very much a dark comedy- very ironic.

I hope to see more from these guys!

Saw the movie, it was the world premier and Gunner Hansen and the rest of the cast and crew were there, meeting and greeting everyone. I got his signature and all that jazz, good times. The movie is kind of a trilogy, with the hospital scenes just linking them together to make some kind of format. It was good, especially Monstercam.com and Beneath The Table. Gunner sat a few rows back, laughing his ass off at his own mediocre scenes. It was a good movie, doubt anyone else will be able to enjoy it if they weren't at the world premier though, doesn't seem the type that would make it well commercially. Definitely a B movie, a good B movie, but nonetheless...

4 hatchets out of 5

Well....let's see here. I watched this deranged horror flick at the

Cinema Wasteland convention in Ohio. I'd like to break the movie down. First of all, the tie-in segments with Gunnar Hansen(legendary horror icon as Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre) plays the role of the diabolical Dr. Howard were hysterical and adds a fresh start to Gunnar's career as a comedic actor! This comedy that Gunnar had took me by surprise but it was something different that he threw up on the screen versus wielding that good IL' chainsaw that we've all come to know and love! His sidekick, Dr. fine, who seemed to shy away from Gunnar's sick mind and sick advances (Thank God!), was also very funny!

It was your basic tie-in but it was cool to see the victim's in their natural habitat!!

The first movie titled NUMB was very interesting. a wee bit slow....could have picked up the pace but I liked the morbid progression of the main character. I felt his pain as he dealt with his dwindling relationship and all the constant negativity in the media. Great make-up job and really cool thumb gag!! Sick and twisted, just how I like it! I thought it was cool how the so-called negative energy spread at the end......

The second movie was called MONSTERCAM.COM and was wildly entertaining! This was the bonanza of the whole film for sure. The characters were campy but it worked out very well and they were all very good. The main character, Jason Jackson was a riot, The cops were absolutely hilarious, and that secretary had me begging for more blood!!! Then the real surprise was that vicious monster. How cool was that, you really don't see him that much but that's probably better left as is. It is built up perfectly, then all of a sudden it's an onslaught of blood and guts! I'd like to be the secretary's pet monster!!! Monstercam.com....I can't wait to tell my buds about the site!! HAhah!!!

And last but not least, there was the movie UNDER THE TABLE. What a great idea, a tad slow at certain times but nevertheless entertaining.

I loved all the random things taking place under the table and that razor blade shot really had me gagging. The effects of the head were great, including all the other fine dining! I wonder what happened to the pizza guy at the end there? Maybe there will be a part 2? That would certainly be a treat!!! Well, I'm off to dinner now........

Overall, I give NEXT VICTIM 4 hatchets out of 5. It really was an entertaining little piece with an added bonus of Gunnar Hansen aboard to sweeten us up a bit with his quirky role as the mad doctor. One can only sit and wait for the next film from these guys.......hopefully it will be another horror film!
