I have no idea how to even get into this one. SNUFF PERVERSIONS: BIZARRE CASES OF DEATH is like some weird cross between the AUGUST UNDERGROUND films, the film SNUFF, an insanely cheezy mockumentary, and a comedy. But not in any good kind of way. It is honestly one of the most inane and retarded films ever made and I have no idea why it even exists on this earth.
The "film" is a collection of dramatizations that are supposed to be some sort of police-training video hosted by a male cop and female psychologist. The two bumbling "experts" give brief intros between the films to describe what the audience is about to see, and to offer their "professional opinions" of the different acts of torture, murder, suicide, etc...that are on the different tapes that they play for the audience. At the end, a duo of masked assailants raid the studio where the cop and psychologist are taping the "educational video", and shoot them in order to recover the snuff material...
I know that what I described above may actually sound kinda cool - but trust me - it ain't. The whole film is done in an extremely tongue-in-cheek manner that totally negates any "shock value" that the film may have otherwise had. Virtually all of the "snuff material" shown in the film is ridiculously inept and unconvincing, though I will say that two or three of the excerpts are somewhat "rough" - including an extended rape sequence and the molestation of a dead girl in a tub which ends hilariously when the perpetrator falls on the floor trying to get out of the bathtub. I honestly had no idea if I was supposed to laugh hysterically or if the film-makers (and I use that term EXTREMELY loosely) were trying to shock the audience with their juvenile and often (both intentionally and unintentionally) funny segments. The B-list softcore/horror film cast is absolutely abysmal, though there are a few sets of titties on display that make a few of the scenes bearable. For real - SNUFF PERVERSIONS is one of the most odd and inept pieces of "film-making" that I've ever laid my eyes on. I would say that it may be worth a look to EXTREMELY "forgiving" B-movie/exploit for the sheer retardation of the whole experience. The funniest thing is, I would bet money that the Toe Tag team has seen this film and used it as a sort of template for its marginally successful AUGUST UNDERGROUND films, but eliminating any of the "comedy" elements. Anyway - I can't really recommend this film to anyone because it really does suck big balls - but I did get a kick out of the sheer disjointedness of the whole affair - hence a generous 3/10 from me...
