The first portion of "Goichi Jiisan" is live action. The local children come to see old man Goichi because they love the stories he tells them. He tells them a tale based on an Aesop story about two hungry dogs and the cartoon portion begins. They both discover some meat but instead of both enjoying it, they fight over whose portion is bigger. To decide this once and for all, they consult the monkey....and in the process they both get tricked out of the meat...proving that greed is bad.
This is a cute and enjoyable short. The animation is decent but not great and the story a bit obvious and moralistic...but still is worth seeing.
By the way, Goichi keeps saying the following phrase: "Work hard. Don't be Lazy. So that your sash breaks in half". I understand the first two sentences but the sash portion....does anyone know exactly what this means??
