Unexpectedly daring
christian9429 November 2005
I saw this movie on an EgyptAir flight back from Egypt and what seemed like an entertaining light-hearted comedy soon turned to be a much more audacious politically-heavy endeavour. As one of the two main characters finds himself doing some TV work in Palestine, he is confronted with the phenomenon of suicide-bombing. A very touchy subject to approach in this terrorist-fearing world (did I mention I was on an airplane watching the movie?), but this take although perhaps extremist to a certain point takes care to show us some of the motivations behind and dedication to the cause. It goes further than showing another vague retelling of a suicide-bombing on CNN (casualty number, nationality breakup of victims, possible suspects and collaborators, etc.) It attempts to answer the question: why do they do it? The result is quite interesting and the movie although probably not dead on, does strike a chord and opens the door to more questions. I only wish there were more viable answers and solutions...

See it if you get the chance.
