Brought back lot of memories

It was so nice to see all those stars from one of my favorite sitcoms. I enjoyed seeing these folks as they look today. The special was not just some collections of clips from the old series. It included stories about the people that were a part of that adventure. And Gary Marshall was there to add his perspective and insights. It was interesting to hear about his interaction with his cast.

Henry Winkler's "home movies" showed us things that have not been seen before. He had little gems that he shot over the full eleven years the show was produced.

I particularly enjoyed the stories about their softball team. They played in many locations including games against the troops overseas. It was fun to see who was the star player and who was not. I won't spoil that here. I'll just say that being one of the more significant cast members did not mean you were also one of the more significant softball players.

And while this was not just a re-hashing of clips from old shows, it did include some highlights. I saw characters I had forgotten. I'm going to have to watch the local TV schedule for some repeats. Happy Days will always be one of the best TV series ever made.

Happy days are here again and again and again...I guess that they'll always be here

Obviously, "Happy Days: 30th Anniversary Reunion" brought back all the cast members, all of whom threw in their two cents about the show's various aspects. Until watching this reunion, I had never known about their baseball team, or that the show was spun off of "Love: American Style". And Henry Winkler's home movies showing the bloopers were pretty interesting. It must have been pretty incredible to be in the same room as Robin Williams hearing him ad lib a bunch of jokes as Mork.

Admittedly, this will probably only appeal to the show's hardcore fans; otherwise, the whole thing just seems like self-congratulation. But I would congratulate Fonzie's coolness. On another note, it's sort of weird to think that all of the "Happy Days" cast members are still alive after all these years (but not everyone who participated; director Jerry Paris has passed on). But no matter, it's great to see Richie, Fonzie, Howard, Marion, Joanie, Potsie, Ralph and Chachi together again, not to mention some of the obscurer cast members. Just one question: where was Al? Oh well. As Fonzie always says: heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

Brought back great memories

I enjoyed the reunion show because growing up Happy Days was my favorite show. Tuesdays at 8:00 was always the time for Happy Days!! I just was wondering why AL wasn't included in it. I know he is still very much alive because I checked his biography page. I would be surprised to find out that he wouldn't have wanted to be with everyone else sharing the old memories. Also, I wonder where Pinky was?? Last time I saw her she was on the news for shooting a car window out because the alarm was too loud!!! Poor Pinky!The sitcoms today cannot compare to what we had. All there is now is sex, and profanity. It is a shame that this is what our children have to be subjected to.

Trip down memory lane

Growing up in the 1970s, I used to watch Happy Days regularly on Tuesday nights. From the start of the series, until the last few years, when, in my opinion, the show went downhill in the early 80s. Watching reruns of the show now may seem corny to many, and in many ways, it was corny. But of course, times were different then, and things that happened in the show actually WERE funny.

ABC put together this 2-hour reunion special, and the producers did a fantastic job on it. Starting with Tom Bosley and Marion Ross standing in front of the original Cunningham home, and then proceeding through clips of the series, getting input from all cast members throughout. They even include home footage shot by Henry Winkler, and a reunion softball game. There were also a few surprise guests, such as the original 2 actors who played the long forgotten older brother, Chuck Cunningham. Also making an appearance was Pat "Arnold" Morita.

The special was very well put together, and provided many good memories of the show, as well as insights and bloopers. MUCH better than just watching the reruns. If there was a drawback to this reunion, it's that Al Molinaro was not included in the special (in clips only). I would've liked to see him as he is now. Producer Garry Marshall was the host of the show, and he did a bang-up job at it. Kudos to all involved!

The 30 year Reunion of Happy Days

I love Happy Days it is the best and I loved the 30 year reunion.. I thought the way they did it was great. They showed times that were sad, funny, serious. They all looked so happy to be together. Those were during my teenage days and it brought back great memories seeing the old shows. Henery Winkler at the end hitting the wall crack me up. Ron Howard is super. My favorite show was when The Fonz was praying. You got to see a great side to him. I loved the way they surprised everyone with Arnold, I wonder why they never mention Big Al. Scott Bio is still young looking. Him and Joanie should of got married in real life. Mr. and Mrs. C is good examples of how families should be today. Back then is when T.V was clean. To me Happy Days was a good family show that everyone could watch. Ron Howard the guy he is should come out with a show today that would be good family quality.

Wish they'd brought back one of the old directors

This was a poorly directed clip show that looked like it was done by anyone other than a real fan of the one of America's classic TV shows. It broke my heart to see such a choppy junk show made about such a classic. Spoiled were the Happy Days memories smooth as the Fonz himself....this was as spastic and dull as cable TV junk shows are now. What a disappointment. I would like to have seen this directed by one of the show's original regular directors like Frank Buxton, Peter Baldwi, or Mel Fisher, God rest his soul, he probably rolled over in his grave when he saw this one. And where was Gary Marshall when this was being shot and cut? This was so dull, was he asleep? Well, it shows.

Happy Days Renunion Special

I would like to thank the whole cast for appearing together. I am sure the whole two hour special was very hard but rewarding work. Thanks to Mr. Winkler for bring the special to life.

It is so nice to know that the cast was as friendly off screen as they were on. I always thought it would be a great thing to go to dinner with the group.

It was a delight and brought back many memories of my children growing up and their routine on Tuesday evenings.

I hope Al is well.

wonderful reunion

I agree that it was a great show and wonderful trip down memory lane. I too was disappointed that Al Molinaro was not on the show (other than in old clips). A great deal of the show was staged in his restaurant and we saw a lot of him. I felt the creators of the reunion went to the extreme having the actors that played "Chuck" on, as many probably vaguely remember them.

It was neat the way they profiled each character while not "overbilling" any one person. I would've liked to have seen more of Richie's wife Loribeth and even Jenny Picalo besides their presence in the softball game. They, along with Molinaro could've made appearances near the end of the show around the same time the two Chuck's and "Arnold" made their appearances.

One thing I feel is amazing is all of the actors are still with us. Granted they were all young when the show aired, it has still been 30 years. Again, another aspect that made this reunion special.

ABC and Mr. Marshall did a great job with the reunion. Congrats! And thanks!

The Happy Days gang back at Arnold's

The Happy Days are here again! Eeyy! The old gang from Milwaukee get back together once again to share some of their fondest memories.Happy Days: 30th Anniversary Reunion (2005) is directed by Linda Mendoza.It's most cool to see the gang going back to Arnold's.This is Arnold's! There we see Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham.And Henry Winkler, who was the leather jacket king Fonzie.Anson Williams, or Potsie is there.Great singer, not so great with the girls.Don Most, Ralph Malph is there.We learn that he learned the "I still got it" catchphrase from the show's late director Jerry Paris.It's a fantastic moment when Chuck finally shows up.Richie's basketball playing brother, who just vanished from the show, was played by two men.We see both of them with basketballs.In the end we also see the great late Pat Morita.Too bad Al Molinaro, who played Al, couldn't be there due to his health.He's 90 now.We also see Fonzie jumping the shark, which It brings back memories when the Bill Haley & His Comets song Rock Around the Clock starts to play.And then the Happy Days theme song by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel.Sunday, Monday Happy Days...I think I'll go and get my Arnold's burger.Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep.

seems like yesterday

Seeing that "Happy Days 30th Anniversary Special", it seems like yesterday when i would religiously watch the show tuesday nights back in the 70's and 80's. Time flies! I liked that a lot of the characters in the show joined together in the original Arnolds drive-in, but was disappointed that they didn't have Lori-Beth and Al included. They were a pretty big part of the show, so they should have been there too. Anyway, i recorded the special onto DVD, so it's preserved in my library of great, enjoyable TV memories. Can't wait till the "Happy Days 50th Anniversary special." Can you imagine, Richie Cunningham a senior citizen? LOL!

Garry Marshall hosts this reunion special, which has interviews with various cast members as well as countless clips from the show Happy Days. Towards the end we get to the actual reunion, which features Ron Howard, Erin Moran, Scott Baio, Tom Bosley, Don Most, Marion Ross, Anson Williams and of course Henry Winkler. A couple surprise guests also appear.

There was a previous reunion special done in 1992 but that one there didn't feature Eric Moran so this one here is a bit more complete as far as the original cast members go. If you're a fan of the show then you'll obviously enjoy this special even though it's certainly nothing special. The clips selected are pretty much the same ones shown in the earlier special and the cast members pretty much tell the same stories. There is a small Q&A section, which was good.
