The Dancing Doll -- Lost Silent Drama
PamelaShort13 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Mountain girl Hilda ( Vivian Wessell ) has a sweetheart, Felix (Wayne Nunn), who carves wooden dolls. One day Hart ( Harland B. Moore ) a professional dancer, comes through the village and convinces Hilda that she could have a great career. She elopes with him to the city, and Felix becomes deranged from the heartbreak. He decides to carve a life-size doll of Hilda and believes that it will come to life if hit by lightning. However, he is stuck by lightening. Meanwhile, Hilda has discovered that Hart is a tyrant and returns home. When Felix wakes up and sees Hilda he believes his experiment has worked. Hilda realizes he is insane and tries to nurse him back to health. Hart finds out where Hilda is and comes after her, but he's hit by a lightning bolt which kills him. Felix's sanity returns and he and Hilda are happily reunited.

This unique early silent drama, produced by the Kalem Company is sadly now considered lost.
