A True Footballing Legend
gringotrail25 September 2007
I was lucky enough to attend the Premiere in the Glasgow Armadillo. When Jinky walked in, the audience rose as one and sang out the wee man's name over and over again, I don't know about Jinky but it brought a tear to my eyes. A legend, he will never be forgotten by the Celtic Family.

A great film too of course, really an update on the earlier club video 'Jinky' with a lot of the same football footage but slightly longer and dealing more with the man's personal issues whereas the first film was purely his footballing genius. The quality of the direction / editing marks this version out as a far superior product. This is not your usual footballer biog and it does not shirk from the lows of his life but in the end Jinky is at peace with himself and shows remarkable strength of character in the face of his tragic illness. God bless you Jinky.

Delightful, heartening and wondrous

For many Celtic supporters this is a gem of a movie. Emotional for its for historical focus on the life of a footballing legend, but also for the overview of his life which is a tale of the history of postwar Lanarkshire..... He is a man gifted with great skill and talent, and the quality of this video is a relief when taking in the poor quality of footballing videos in general.....

If you really want to see sublime skills which were praised by amongst the greatest in the game, as well as an honest tale of a great man's life (even highlighting the dark side too to the credit of the directors) then this is for you.

Magic, very very strongly recommended.

A tribute to Jinky!

An insightful and emotional documentary about a man from Glasgow who was small in stature but big in heart and blessed with wonderful football skills that graced the field of Celtic Park (thats Paradise to anyone that knows about these things) for well over a decade and was part of the Great Celtic team of the 60s and 70s that stormed to a momentous 9 consecutive Scottish League titles and became the first British side to lift the European Cup (the most prestigious of World club football trophies) with their victory, or was that 'lesson in attacking football' over the then World football power from Italy called Inter Milan. Billy Connolly narrates and there are contributions from some of Celtic's many world famous supporters such as actor/director Peter Mullen and Simple Minds front-man Jim Kerr. Sadly wee Jimmy or 'Jinky' as he will always be known is suffering from a debilitating muscle wasting disease which may threaten his life. Some will see this DVD presentation as a send off but I hope that is not the case and that the most skillful winger to ever grace the game will be able to triumph over adversity. My prayers are with him and his family at this tough time. But i'm sure 'Jinky' will know that with the ever grateful Celtic support from all over the world behind him 'You'll Never Walk Alone.'
