Le remouleur et l'assiette au noir review

A far-fetched practical joke which can be seen coming a mile off; worth catching for the look on the male victim's face in the final shot, though.

Le rémouleur et l'assiette au noir (1897)

A man is working on some equipment when another man comes up to distract him. While they are talking a couple other men enter the frame and start what is going to turn into a prank. There's nothing overly funny about this film from the Lumiere Brothers but at the same time it's interesting to watch today since it's an early example of them getting away from the actuality films and trying to do something more scripted and set up. Again, the joke here really isn't all that funny when viewed today but I'm not really sure if it would have been funny back in the day. These "prank" films were obviously quite popular with the most loved ones dealing with water hoses.
