Shopping carts = how did this be chosen for a festival entry?

Warning: Spoilers
This short did not entertain me. I wasn't impressed with anything about the story. How funny, the shopping carts come together to target cars. The story was mediocre, the shots were mediocre, and the editing was less than bad.

How do people continue to win festivals with entries like these? Where is the story, why don't we go in depth into the characters thoughts or interests? Inanimate objects don't have any depth to character, we can't see the shopping carts talk, and if they did, they would probably say "Don't see this movie."

LA must have needed some time slots to fill the festival, because I have no idea how this was chosen to be in it.

Funny? Hardly.

This short film has everything that is required to make a mediocre short film. Bad acting, poor dialogue, unoriginal camera shots. The short was an Official Selection at the 2005 LA International Short Film Festival, I just wonder how horrible were the ones that didn't make it. I believe most festivals are now created to make money, they are a business. Make a short film, submit it with your fee, and you'll win, no matter how bad it is. There is no more art, no more imagination, it's just money. Oh by the way, your crappy short film is now going to be made into a feature, and don't forget the sequel. I just hope there are still filmmakers out there, and not just people with a camera and computer making home movies.

Secret Lives of Stupidness
thetej-116 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
There are a couple questions that need to be asked going into this film... and when you walk away... they just are not answered. They are: Why? How?

Let me elaborate... Why did this film get chosen to the LA Festival, and How was it chosen? Why was it made? How did someone even come up with this remarkably horrible and stupid idea?

Shopping carts run amok, hit a green Firebird, the owner gets mad and curses at "Cart Boy". The carts in the meantime end up screwing each other and have a baby cart...

Ridiculous? Just a bit. Ingenuis? Not at all. Should you ever see this and waste 4 minutes of your life? If you are a down and out filmmaker and have problem with motivation then yes... watch the "Barney & Friends" writer at her best in this horrific piece of short film.

If you want more of a laugh, please check out the trailer she made for 2004's Austin Film Festival...

Austin... oh Austin what were you thinking? I agree with Justin and Mr Glass.

Sandra, if you do get to read this, please refrain from making that Feature Film you're promising to the world. Uwe Boll is genius director in comparison to you.
