When the leaves start to turn and the streaming calendar flips over to autumn, it’s helpful to have a guaranteed hit. And that’s exactly what Hulu has on its hands with its list of new releases for September 2022.
While Prime Video unveils The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and HBO Max continues on with House of the Dragon, Hulu is turning to a hit of its own with The Handmaid’s Tale. Season 5 of the dystopian epic premieres Sept. 14. That’s just the start of Hulu’s TV offerings this month though.
While there are no original movies to speak of, Hulu has many shows to accompany June’s story in September. South Korea sci-fi series Grid arrives on Sept. 7 and is followed by Wedding Season on Sept. 8, Reboot on Sept. 20, and Ramy season 3 on Sept. 30. Thanks to its Disney parent company, Hulu also gets to...

Just in time for the election, EW has teamed with research firm Experian Marketing Services to present the favorite TV shows of Republicans and Democrats. Below are dozens of series whose audiences tend to skew heavily toward one political party or the other. To some extent, the results confirm partisan stereotypes: Dem favorites include snarky comedies like NBC's Community, Saturday Night Live, and IFC's Portlandia, liberal-messaging shows such as Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, and Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom; plus there's a dash of science-based programming like Fox's Cosmos miniseries and PBS' Nova.

Bruce Feirstein charts the 100 people, companies, institutions, and vices most responsible for the economic mess. Tune into Vf.com for five new financial villains every day.61. Lifestyle Porn. A special citation goes out to the newspaper style sections, cable-tv shows, and free magazines that pimped out their content to sell the ecstasy of unbridled consumption. From the money shots of steely bathroom fixtures, to the gauzy spreads of weekend second homes, to the allure of obscene profits at the climax of shows like Flip This House, they served as enablers to an entire generation of striving accumulators who simply had to have that stainless $500,000 kitchen makeover, even if it meant taking out a subprime mortgage to attain it. The headline for the entire era might well have been “To Have, and Have More.” 62. Bernard Madoff. It wasn’t only that he destroyed lives and decimated charities. Those crimes are real enough and cannot be diminished.

Britney Spears can kiss goodbye that career as the next host of Flip This House. Despite having quietly shopped around her Italian Renaissance-inspired villa for the better part of a year, the pop star has yet to unload the six-bedroom, six-bath, 7,500-square-foot estate in the gated celeb-heavy Summit neighborhood. Spears purchased the home for $7.1 million back in December 2007. Since then, the place started picking up bad juju as ground zero for her infamous gurney-strapped ambulance ride, among other embarrassing episodes during her public meltdown in early 2008. The singer, who is currently touring the U.K. with her Circus act, dropped the sale price of her home to a measly $6.5 million on Tuesday, the...

A&E has been slapped with a multimillion-dollar lawsuit stemming from its unscripted series Flip This House. Richard C. Davis, executive producer and star of Flip, filed suit in the Court of Common Pleas in Charleston, S.C., against the cable network and production company Departure Films, citing fraud, breach of contract and seven other counts. The lawsuit hinges on A&E's decision to move ahead with a second season of Flip without Davis and his real estate company, Trademark Properties. The series follows Trademark staffers as they buy, fix and resell undervalued residences.
