- There is a scene where a firewoman is caught in a burning building and almost dies, but she is pulled to safety. There is no blood or anything, but the building does collapse after she is saved.
- A young boy and his dog are trapped in a burning building, along with another man, but they all end up getting out and being just fine. Before that, though, there is a loud explosion, and the boy and the man literally go flying in separate directions. There is no blood, but there's fire all around, and the boy is knocked unconscious for several minutes before the dog comes in and licks his face, waking him up.
- There are quite a few fire scenes. Some are more intense than others. It might scare younger kids, but nobody is ever killed or seriously hurt.
Profanity

- There is some language and a lot of potty humor. The dog farts a lot, and there is one scene where the dog even poops inside a bowl of stew that is lying on a table.
- One use of "crap" by a 12-year-old boy.
- The term "mutt from hell" is used to describe the dog twice in the movie, once by a 12-year-old kid.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Hardly any. At the most, a man is seen drinking a beer in his home while watching a football game on TV. Also, in that same scene, a dog knocks over a whole shelf of wine in the pantry.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- As stated above, there are some intense fire scenes, but everything turns out fine for the characters.
- A guy from animal control finds Dewey in an alley at the beginning of the movie and tries to chase him down. The guy is very mean and threatens the dog, which might upset younger kids.
- One of the film's subplots involves the fact that a fire station's former captain, Marc, was killed in the line of duty. The movie centers around that same fire station trying to deal with the loss. (Marc was the brother of one of the firefighters, and the uncle of the young boy in the movie.) This leads to some sad scenes. Also, at the very beginning of the movie, a firefighter is seen trapped in a building, yelling for help and that he can't get out. We can assume that this is Marc.
