Simply stunning. Clearly the films creators had extremely limited resources yet they manage to create a gritty yet beautiful little film. In its brief 13 minutes the film immerses you in the emotional turmoil of life on the streets and we feel an instant connection with the films central character, Francis. considering the whole thing was shot on hand held video cameras there are some amazing pieces of cinematography especially in the final sequence where the lighting is simply incredible. The child actors are a joy to watch and are really very talented, you would hardly know they were acting. I watched this film at the Los Angeles short film festival and it really stood out from all the other films in the programme, a considerable achievement seeing as it also had the smallest budget. I will watch the career of 'Joe Louis' with considerable interest and advise others to do the same!
