A must for your 'Bad Movie' night.
wadechurton15 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Want a good drinking game guaranteed to get everyone royally ripped? Watch this movie and take a sip every time someone mentions God. Now, something for the teetotalers. Have a good long dram every time someone mentions Karla Faye Tucker's actual crime (in 1983 KFT brutally murdered a woman who was unfortunate enough to have been the new girlfriend of her drinking buddy's despised ex-husband). This is an incredible movie and not in a good way. Things are drawn in pro-Christian strokes so broad it is ludicrous. Some wonderful 'bad movie moments' here include the near 'Twin Peaks' entrance of the sentencing judge, complete with dark sunglasses and sleazy jazz music. There's also the confusing 'arrest' sequence (why does she carefully place a plate of spaghetti against the wall?), and the astounding execution scene, which looks to have been filmed in someone's living room. The few moments of the 'bad' (i.e. pre-Christian) KFT era are wildly over the top, and there's a lot more of this sort of thing, but what really sticks in the memory is KFT's 'ethereal', 'angelic' hand-movements and body language. At one point she even imitates an airplane. This is part of the real problem with the movie, and that is the depiction of KFT as a saintly martyr who willingly accepts her fate (she even straps herself on to the gurney. Can you really do that?). In real life KFT doggedly delayed her execution for fifteen years, eventually announcing (when her final appeal failed) that only Jesus had the authority to judge her, and not the mortal judiciary. One final thing; a note to future biopic producers; if you want to foster empathy and audience identification with your subject, do not close your movie with actual film of her dancing around, gesticulating wildly and looking quite as mad as a meat-axe. Or should that be pick-axe?

Heartfelt and Touching

Karla Faye Tucker is proof that God can move in mysterious ways, and that He is a loving and forgiving God. When I first saw this on TBN I was tired, and about to head to bed, but something told me to watch it so I did. Through out the film I couldn't look away from the TV, and by the time the credits rolled I was in tears. Her story can soften even the hardest of hearts! The cast was spectacular, it wasn't your "corny Christian"(I'm a Christian and I admit there are some out there that are corny) movie, very professional, and very well acted. You see her life while in prison, how she has changed since giving her life to Jesus. But unlike some movies they don't hide away from the facts, the flashbacks back to 1983 were done quite well. Karen Jezek did an excellent job in portraying Karla, from the looks, to body language, everything was fantastic. She really showed that it wasn't just a character she was portraying, it was a real life woman who had a hard life since childhood. The story shows to non-Christian's that God is real, and He loves everyone no matter what they've done in their lives. It also shows Christians that if God can forgive someone like Karla, how much more should we forgive and accept others who differ from us? Also if we step out of our "comfort zone" look at who we could reach with the message of God's love. Had it not been for people who loved God and wanted to help people like Karla on death row, she might not have found God, and her story wouldn't be as big as it is. All in all, this movie is a must see for everyone!

RIP Karla, you are missed by many!

If you like soap operas, you'll probably like this
Planet_V13 July 2018
And this is probably why they don't use much prison dialect in soap operas simply because it is too boring. Not worth watching

Touching movie "God is love"
xxnhangel81828 March 2012
This moving is an amazing movie and it teaches the real meaning of love and that Love is God for God only has true love and those who accept it and are willing to walk with that love will earn it. God's love saved us and in this movie it shows how this women is just filled with the love of God and how her face is shining so bright there is nothing greater then the love of God. True love never dies but worldly love will eventually die. God loves sinners but hate sins we all live in sin we have no right to throw someone to hell all judgments are in God's hands this women deserves forgiveness if we don't forgive her God will not forgive us. God is a just God. God bless this women she is a bride of Christ she has entered the kingdom of heaven has a warrior because she fought what life she lived she repented from her sins she was sorry for what she has done, great example of the Love of GOD. Jesus IS LOVE HE PROVED THAT ON THE CROSS.....

Grotesque and Completely Misguided
wbrabbit-570191 August 2021
The writers of this movie are the reason that sociopaths have a career. There are people gullible enough to believe that a simple double murder is enough to make a grown adult grow a conscience.

In reality, anyone can say they found Jesus, and sociopaths are especially prone to say this because it helps them manipulate people who might help them. Show me a sociopath about to suffer the consequences of pick-axing two people to death and I'll show you someone with 14 years time on their hand and everything to gain by saying they found Jesus.

Only God himself knows if Tucker found Jesus. One thing's for certain, most people who really find him... don't talk about it to easily manipulated public figures who can go on a crusade for them.

Awesome movie Based on a true STORY
a-waagemans11 March 2014
If this had been a movie that was a made up story it would have been a weak movie very unbelievable. But because it REALLY HAPPENED I think it is an awesome movie it touched my heart. The chaplain who is Linda Strom, is still traveling the world with the story of Karla Faye Tucker. She has blessed many people and the life of Karla gives us all hope. Even though the movie has been dramatized you can still see the real story. I salute the people working with prisoners and their victims and other people effected by crime. The story of Karla shows that the work of all these volunteers and dedicated officers are not in vain. It also shows that there is Hope for everyone, no matter what you have done.

Worst movie ever?
Freethinker_Atheist8 August 2021
It does not take a genius to understand that it is due to churchgoers that this movie is rated more than one star. It is truly terrible in all aspects. Impossible not to laugh throughout it, especially at the execution scene. Praise the bored!

It takes a person that has been through hell that Jesus literally came to help them to understand
glisa-339402 March 2023
Ignorant people that have not suffered or have been through anything are known anything other than themselves and limited knowledge can't understand or love this movie .

But I've watched it three times and love it and suggest it to be seen to everyone the non-believer, believer, and beyond that is converted to the faith of Jesus that is not taught anymore .

And People going to church are people seeking God They may be seeking in places that are not teaching the full truth though ... But they seek him because they're imperfect and know it that they need convert to his ways of righteousness that by his son who Is the ONLY high priest of the faith of God . We need to convert to it .

That's why people seek God because they understand they are not doing what they're created to do .and are empty with out the life that was designed to be in them. .

And usually harming people as well as their self by poor decisions they are making.

That's why God gave his law of love to teach us how to Love each other, respect each other. To love and worship him .

Respect our parents.and spread love to others .

It was never done away with But Rome stopped All people from converting to it and the months of God and his sabbaths and feasts and enforced other practices. The called the Christiandom OR THEOLOGY TODAY. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL CANNONS THE FIRST ONE THEY BANNED THE SABBATH OF GOD SECOND THEY BANNED HIS PASSOVER FEAST OF CONVERSION THEY BAN HIS MONTHS .

THEY BANNED THE HIGH PRIEST ORDER AND TOOK OVER THE SYNAGOGUES .

WITH NO ACCESS TO GOD AND NO WAY TO CONVERT BY KEEPING HIS FEASTS THIS IS WHY GOD SENT HIS SON JESUS TO BE THE LIVING SACRIFICE THE LIVING HIGH PRIEST THE LIVING TABERNACLE THAT CIRCUMCISES US BY HIS SPIRIT AND WRITES HIS LAW INTO OUR HEARTS INSTEAD OF STONE FOR THIS NEW COVENANT. OF HIS FAITH WHICH IS HIS LAW.

IT'S NEW MARRIAGE COVENANT HAS A LAW LIKE YOU WOULD I WOULD HAVE AND WANT IN A MARRIAGE THAT WE DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO COMMIT ADULTERY ON US WE DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO LIE WE DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO STEAL OR KILL THAT WERE MARRIED TO. SO THESE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MARRIAGE COVENANT S IN THE Law of Love and judgments of Jesus. THIS IS the faith ..

plus His months feasts and sabbaths that WERE BANNED AND haven't been taught since Constantine banned them in about 330- 380 a d . .. SO THEY HAVE OT BEEN KNOWN OR NOT TAUGHT TO THIS DAY. UNTIL RECENTLY PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO LEARN ABOUT THEM .

AS ISAIAH 6623 SAYS. HIS MONTHS AND SABBATHS OR NEW MOONS AND SABBATH WILL BE RESTORED WHEN JESUS COMES TO REIGN ON EARTH.

BUT MWhat's funny Is that MANY CLAIM THEY'RE NOT RELIGIOUS OR IN A RELIGION BUT actually ARE following Roman religion Roman solar calendar days AND THEIR gODS practices

They Enforced Easter by death. After they banned GODS holy Passover feast of CONVERSION TO God .

They THEN Enforced saturnalia which is now called Christmas and said it was about Jesus and his son called birth . To trick gentiles to convert and keep their practices.

THESE ARE NOT IN THE BIBLE. . BUT THEY ARE ALL JEWISH FEASTS OR THE FEAST OF GOD THAT ARE CALLED JUDAISM. BUT THEY ARE NOT TAUGHT TODAY IN TRUTH OR THT TRUE MONTHS.

BECAUSE ROME ENFORCED ALL THEIR LAWS AND CALENDAR ON ALL THE NATIONS BY DEATH. SO MOST THE WORLD Is keeping Roman law That was adopted as a religion that Banned and Mocks the true God of creation and his faith. . . Anybody that seeking God would come out of that very quickly.

But the story here is about a woman who was raised in this awful world as a child of the product of this world and the way it thinks that he can do it what it wants then matter who it hurts.. she was on drugs at 8 years old and on heroin at 10 or 11 years old and was trying to fit in with people that she only knew . She just wanted to be loved.and she gets that love in a way that most people can't understand until it happens to them

You ask Jesus into your heart. And what it says you can look it up. Speak the words of Romans 10:9 and do Acts 15. 19 - 21.

The assembly or church is the people.

People seeking the God of Israel that made them.

The difference between this movie and others is that the others have more filters, but the quality and the message of this movie is much better than the million dollar movies.

As a person that was also on drugs at a very young age and very close to doing what she did times and was very suicidal. Jesus came to me is literally after I asked him into my heart a few weeks before that.

I didn't really know what it meant but I was planning my death a few weeks later and just heartbroken in so much pain and he spoke to me.. His voice filled the room.. He sent a man and said he would ask me to marry him and to do it. So I did and he took care of me and helped me out of that situation. And I asked Jesus to teach me and he's taught me ever since. Giving me understanding of his words of his father's words.. And what the faith is and what I need to do

I love this movie so much. I would watch it 10 more times and I suggest everybody that they watch it too. I send it to a lot of people and I'm posting the link . If I can find it.. it today on Facebook for people to watch.

Sappy Portrait of a Killer
refinedsugar30 April 2024
I have to say when I read Karla's story, saw an episode of 'Law & Order' loosely based on it and found a movie had been done I thought it might be from the Lifetime network. After 2003's 'Monster', I didn't expect 'Forevermore' to play fair with the rules governing convicted female killers. This film doesn't feature a big star playing the titular role or even decent production values. It does however play up it's religious, romantic and redemption themes to the hilt.

Crusty masculine female "Prison Official" (writer, director Helen Gibson) makes a pass at preacher Dana Brown (Kenny Jezek), but his heart belongs to one woman. Convicted murderer Karla Faye Tucker (real life wife Karen Jezek) aka "pickax killer". Thru meetings, correspondence he falls in love with a soul he feels has been reborn into a higher spiritual power. Their bond becomes deeper, they marry as public sentiment, support grows as she awaits execution on death row until that fateful day and the aftermath is all that remains.

There's a lot of positivity is the nice way of saying things. Contrived scenes where Karla is shown to have changed thru the involvement of the lord & even the most hardened faces like prison lady soften their stance. Murky flashbacks hint to a time when Karla was on the wrong path making bad decisions. Obviously downplaying the murders (they're not shown) little mention of gruesome details. Choosing to focus on the bitter criminal justice system faces looking to impose a cruel sentence. Falling in love, talk of God. Get used to seeing her prison "cell", people laying on beds, sitting in offices for the majority of the 2 hour runtime that greatly and silently condenses the 15 year timespan.

Religious motivational speakers in prison, Karla's transformation, uplifting music. Not only am I the wrong audience for 'Forevermore' but I strongly disliked, disagreed with it's point of view. There's civil talk to be had about the death penalty and whenever it's right or wrong, but don't get bent out of shape only when a woman is involved. I believe people can change, but finding God, becoming a better person after viciously killing folks is not a conversation I'm interested in being a part of however.
